Volume 3 Chapter 56 ACT.91 The Battle of Leone (III)
When backed into a corner, a new power awakens and strengthens—
──That sounds too convenient, but against a Reincarnator, it actually happens a lot.
It's not really a "power-up," more like something born from desperation.
A survival instinct kicking in when there's no other way out.

As a strange noise escaped the monster's throat, another odd sound came from its pinned right arm.
Not just creaking bones and muscles—
It was the sound of transformation.
The monster, unable to change its form entirely, chose a simpler solution.
It increased the number of joints in its trapped arm.
The twisted right arm, now snakelike, slithered free.
"Ugh!"
And that arm went for Leone who was holding the rope.
Leone, on the other hand, was using their whole body to perform joint locks and strangling techniques, so they couldn't move at all.
Suddenly in this crisis, Leone tried to change their position in a hurry.
But as the snake-like right arm approached, Rai rushed in to help.
"Rai!?"
Rai used their whole body to pin down the slithering thing.
"I'll hold it, so please keep going, Ms. Leone!"
It should normally be easy for one person to pin down an arm, but Rai was already injured.
Their broken dominant arm was in severe pain, and they couldn't help but wince.
"I──I might not be able to hold on for long."
Leone tilted her head further who had a rope in her mouth, and tightened her grip even more.
Gradually, the Reincarnator's resistance weakened.
Just when the two were confident of victory, suddenly the mask that covered the Reincarnator (monster)'s face fell off.
What was hidden was a young boy's face.
It looked like Abel, Leone's younger brother from that day, about the same age.
In that moment, shock ran through Leone, and the grip on the strangulation loosened.
Mysterious sweating and trembling hands occur, her vision shakes, and nausea rises.
──Her consciousness fades away.
"──Ms. Leone, Leone!!"
Rai's scolding flies into her fading consciousness.
"Aren't you the one who is supposed to do this!"
At those words, she shows her last bit of stubbornness.
Her vision blurs, her hands and feet tremble, and she's filled with the urge to give up on everything.
──But. This, this is the only way for Leone (herself) to be.
She is living only to kill her little brother someday.
"Eeeeee!!!!"
With the rope in her mouth, she screams.
As if squeezing out her entire self, she tightens the rope.
And then──.
"K, hyu"
──Letting out a short, unexpected death cry, the power slipped away from the body of the Reincarnator.
