When Leone woke up, she heard distant screams.
"Wh, what's going on?"
She pressed her forehead with one hand due to a heavy headache and sat up.
As her blurry vision cleared, she realized she was in an unfamiliar rib house.
Through the toothless gaps in the rib house's walls, bright sunlight and many people's fierce shouts and rumblings leaked in.
"I have to go."
She did not know what was happening.
But still, she understood instinctively that she needed to go now.
"I have to go!"
Encouraging herself, she said the words and stood up from the simple bed.
However, at that moment, her legs wobbled, and she knelt down on the floor.
──She gritted her teeth at her own pathetic, clumsy state.
If Rai or anyone else had been there, she might have forced a dry smile to avoid worrying them.
But no one was here, so she let her feelings show.
She was frustrated, angry, and felt like she wanted to kill herself──against herself.
"Ah, lady, are you awake!"
The small man from the slum, whom Leone had helped before, entered the rib house after hearing the noise.
Leone realized that this was his home.
"It seems like the knight suddenly ran out, and a lot of people are coming from over there!"
"Okay, I got it."
From his words, she understood that Rai had brought her here while she was unconscious, and that he had already gone off to fight.
"──You told me to let you kill them, but I guess it can't be helped."
But he wasn't at fault.
Leone knew very well that the one to blame was her weak self.
So the only one to blame was herself.
And the only one to encourage and uplift her was herself too.
She slapped her cheeks with both hands.
The pain woke her up, boosting her spirit.
"Then, I'm going too, so you evacuate."
"N-no, that's reckless! You're swaying too much, aren't you!?"
As Leone stood up, swaying, the small man worriedly tried to support her, but she held him back with one hand.
"──I'm here for this purpose. Please, don't take away my being."
With a gentle smile that still showed determination.
And then Leone started to run.
To fulfill the meaning of their life, they took a step forward for the atonement of sins and for salvation.
