"Ugh, even the bathtub is destroyed! They're really out to make us miserable!"
Leone returned to the living room, half in tears, after checking out the bathroom's state.
Meanwhile, Rai had been tidying up the room to the point of near-collapse and had managed to secure a space where the intact furniture could be gathered to relax, at least for the moment.
"That's definitely harassment."
"Right? Absolutely!"
Leone sat down on the floor with a huff of anger.
Rai followed suit, sitting down next to her.
Feeling a bit awkward about how close he was, Leone spoke up.
"──You don't smell, do you?"
"I've gotten used to it."
Leone made a complicated face, like she was holding back from saying something trivial.
Instead, Rai let out a sigh and began to speak.
"Who do you think is behind this harassment?"
Is it the Reincarnator currently opposing us, or could it be──?
"There's only one option left."
"Right?"
Without needing to say the name, both of them shared the same suspicion.
Spraying weird paint all over the room must be to erase traces, which implies it's someone──or an organization──in a position where they can't afford to be found out.
Destroying the bathroom, which seems utterly unrelated to the incident but is somehow necessary, can only be to harass Leone for her sensitivity to smells.
Therefore, the culprit is.
"The Military Guard, or more specifically, Jackson Bailey."
That was the only answer.
Only the Military Guard knew about Leone's issue with smells to begin with.
"Even if they're not on good terms with us, the Holy Church, they shouldn't go this far!"
In contrast to the indignant Leone, Rai placed a hand over his mouth, reminiscing about past events.
"There was a mission in the royal capital once where we had to cooperate with the Military Guard."
He was recalling the mission where they faced off against 3 Reincarnators who called themselves the Phantom Thieves and were responsible for a series of thefts in the royal capital.
At the time, they had cornered the struggling Military Guard and forced a cooperative system upon them──but.
"We were able to coordinate properly with the Military Guard back then. There was no trouble at all."
"Well, it's more about the, you know, 'national character' or the vibe of the royal capital's group. The atmosphere of the same organization can feel different with a change in leadership, you know?"
Leone spoke, then suddenly noticed something.
"No, but still, going this far is..."
Leone crossed her arms, resting her right hand on her chin, deep in thought.
She felt that it was too absurd to act purely on bad feelings, and Rai pointed out something further about her.
"Could it be... being protected by a Reincarnator?"
