Volume 3 Chapter 29 ACT.64 Reincarnator's Saga (II)
The cheat (special ability) used by Reincarnators is an extraordinary law (rule) from another world.
This power, varied and immensely strong for each user, shapes the Reincarnator (beast).
However, there is a cost to such overwhelming strength.
One of them is withdrawal symptoms.
Once a Reincarnator uses their cheat (special ability), they *can't stop themselves*.
Because for them, using it is pure bliss.
The more they use it, the more they feel an intense urge if they don't.
Eventually, they start to use their cheat (special ability) over trivial matters.
──They ultimately lose sight of their goals, prioritizing the means instead.
"Reincarnators don't need a reason to use their cheat (special ability)."
Rai looked up at the sky and muttered this.
Yesterday, there was a huge fire after someone was attacked in the slums, and today, someone else might end up a victim.
Yet, today's sky was crystal clear, a perfect sunny day.
Rai felt a hint of emptiness for some reason.
"Well, whatever!"
Leone tried to change the mood, calling out to Rai with a bright voice.
"Anyway, once I've washed up, can we head back to yesterday's scene?"
"Sure, but are you okay with me taking separate action for a bit?"
"Did something happen?"
"No, just something I want to look into."
If the Reincarnator shows up again, it'll probably be at night.
Rai wanted to gather whatever information he could about Jackson Captain Bailey during the day.
It was just a baseless hunch, but Rai felt like something was up with him.
But there's no proof.
That's why Rai thought it was better not to mention it to their allies without evidence, and he kept the details of his investigation to himself.
Talking about things without any basis can unintentionally lead to *inconvenient outcomes*.
"Well, I know Rai is serious, and that's totally fine. But first, let's take a moment to calm down and talk."
As they spoke, they arrived at their base for this town.
It wasn't a church or anything like that; just a regular house.
Since Proxima didn't have many Holy Church facilities, they had decided to rent a private house for their operations this time.
There were several reasons behind choosing to rent an entire house, but one of them was──
"Whoa!"
──to avoid causing damage to the surrounding area in case of an enemy attack.
Unlocking the door and stepping inside, the scene was nothing short of catastrophic: furniture and decor had been smashed to pieces, and some sort of paint was splattered across the walls and floor.
"Y-You bastards!!"
Leone couldn't help but unleash a stream of curses upon witnessing the sorry state of her base, her haven of tranquility.
