Volume 3 Chapter 23 ACT.59 Purge Knight Leone・Godwin (Ⅰ)
"I am Leone Godwin, ranked 4th in the Purge Knights, under the Holy Church! In the Goddess's name, I shall now uphold order!"
As soon as she announced her name, she crouched low and propelled herself forcefully off the ground.
Her extreme forward lean, akin to a beast crawling on the earth, made it hard for most opponents to anticipate her attack.
That's why the monster, sensing the impending danger from Leone, attempted to stomp her down.
The moment the creature lifted its left foot high, Leone increased her speed.
With each powerful push from the ground, she surged forward, her movement resembling a swift swallow gliding just above the ground rather than a racing beast.
And above all, while she was sprinting at an abnormal speed──.
"Taking the pivot foot!"
──Her motion was as light as a feather.
Leone slipped past the effective range of the monster's raised foot and leapt with her body bent low, twisting it dramatically.
That twisted form held an incredible amount of power, as if twisted fabric was straining against its own fibers.
With her arms aligned and extended, she swung her double axes in one swift motion.
The acceleration from her sprint combined with the centrifugal force of her body's rotation added to her raw strength.
A grotesque sound echoed as something solid and fresh was severed, causing the monster to crash down, now missing its right foot.
"Finally, your neck's in a good position!"
But Leone wasn't done; she charged in for another strike.
Leaping high into the night sky, she soared above her own height, bringing her axe down toward the monster's neck.
The blade swung down like a guillotine, but the creature rolled sideways just in time to avoid it.
Leone's axe slammed into the earth with a thunderous crash.
However, its blade was covered in a thick coating of blood and fur.
The monster rolled and regained its footing, letting out a small whimper as blood poured profusely from its right shoulder.
It felt a wave of terror and dread washing over it.
"Here we go!"
With that lighthearted shout, Leone pulled her axe from the ground.
Remarkably, even after that fierce onslaught, she *showed no signs of fatigue*.
Clearly, something was off.
She's a Purge Knight──not a Reincarnator.
Even without a cheat──a special ability──she possessed combat power that utterly overwhelmed a monster specializing in physical ability.
And not just through clever tricks, but with pure physical ability.
Witnessing this, the monster *took a step back*.
Using its cheat, it had never lost before, always winning, always devouring.
And yet, she was this strong without a cheat?
The monster thought.
How could this be happening?
"──This...this is just...a cheat!"
At the monster's mutterings, she...laughed.
"Oh, so you can talk."
