Volume 3 Chapter 50 Interlude： Minori and Ferron (Part II)
*This time it's from Minori's point of view.

I deflected Ferron's thrust with my left hand's <Resist>── but like a snake, the blade of the enemy's staff moved and sliced through my left arm.
The blade isn't really wriggling.
It just looks that way because Ferron's skill is so high.
"Hey! What's wrong!? You're leaving your side open! If you're using dual weapons, you need to attack more!"
"Ugh...!"
With just my left hand, I was defending against Ferron's fierce attacks while he skillfully controlled a staff with both hands, and I was only defending.
It's frustrating, but he's just better at swordsmanship.
He said he was a First Rank Adventurer in life, but just how amazing of a person was he?
But, Ferron is not a swordsman; he's a Dark Mage.
No matter how much of a former First Rank Adventurer he is, a swordsman cannot lose to a magician in close combat!
"Sis Minori!"
"Suzu, you can't come down! That I was able to defend just now was either luck or his whim!"
<Flight> is advanced magic, and using multiple spells in this situation is dangerous.
If I were to fail and fall, it wouldn't be a joke.
"Oh, you noticed. That said, I was serious. I might have underestimated you a bit."
While easily brushing off my feint, Ferron seemed impressed.
Maybe thanks to him underestimating me, Suzu was saved.
However, even though the opponent is a man, the fact that I can't attack him while he is fighting with a 2-handed staff in his left hand is surprising.
Why is the difference in strength this large──
"...Are you using a Mana Crystal?"
"There's no way I'm not using it."
When I realized this and charged at him while asking, Ferron calmly answered like that.
The Mana Crystal, made using human lives as materials, is a deadly poison that can turn people and animals into Monsters, but at the same time, it has the effect of enhancing physical abilities.
That power is not comparable to Enchant magic.
It makes sense that I can't match his strength, even though I'm using the Magic Stone of Powerful Arms.
If this continues, I'll run out of options.
I need to find a way to give him an effective attack somehow──
'Sis Minori, can I talk to you for a sec?'
'...Suzu? It's dangerous to use mental communication while flying.'
Suzu's mental message reached me while I was thinking about how to attack.
It seems she is using Flight while casting multiple magic spells.
'Putting that aside. When I give the signal, get far away from Ferron. Until then, fight with all your strength.'
'I'm already giving it my all... Understood.'
I responded to Suzu while wielding my dual swords so as not to lose composure.
I don't know what my younger sister is planning, but as her older sister, I just have to believe in her.
"Haa!"
"It's useless, you have big openings. At this rate, it's only a matter of time before you take a fatal hit, you know?"
As I refocused my spirit and launched a fierce attack, Ferron wore a bitter smile and easily defended against my strikes.
Just as he said, I was barely managing to defend against fatal blows, but I was getting hit all over my body by the staff's attacks and was covered in wounds.
But I'm not alone.
I'm not fighting by myself.
'Now. Away from here.'
I heard Suzu's signal, and I stepped back with a big distance, pretending to be hit by Ferron's blade.
Then, I wiped the blood and sweat that was about to flow into my eyes with my right arm.
"Well then, shall we end the play soon──whoa!?"
Ferron was completely misunderstanding that he was only facing me, turning his unused right shoulder around.
A medicine bottle from Lene fell from the sky and hit his head.
The culprit, of course, was Suzu.
"Magician Suzu! Is this you, what in the world──"
He probably tried to ask what was happening.
But not being able to finish that sentence, Ferron was engulfed in flames.
Suzu in the sky hurriedly retreated so she wouldn't get caught up in it.
"It was Napalm, right? Lene's new explosive burns well."
I gripped my Magic Sword with both hands and walked towards Ferron, who was writhing in flames, having dropped my staff.
By now, he probably couldn't even breathe because of the fire.
"You had wonderful sword skills. I wanted to fight without a Mana Crystal or magic stone."
Without hesitation, I thrust my right hand with Pierce into Ferron's heart.
This was the second time piercing this guy's heart.
"If possible, let's hope there isn't a third time."
After pulling out Pierce and looking at Ferron, who was covered in flames and collapsing, I muttered that to myself.
