Volume 6 Chapter 80 Bonus

Here are some extras that didn't fit into the main story.

While Rolf and the others were seeing off the Kingdom Knights, there was Airen lying down at the makeshift medical facility in Blankfurt.

It's a simple tent built on the site of the merchant guild Veritas, filled with medics, numerous beds, and injured people lying on the floor.

The operation went well, and so far there have been no reports of deaths, but there are still seriously injured individuals.

In one corner of the medical facility, Airen received only light treatment and was lying in bed.

Compared to the other seriously injured, it was just light burns and a lack of magical power, plus extreme fatigue causing faintness, so no further treatment was deemed necessary.

Watching over Airen was Wayne, who wore a worried expression.

 It was understandable.

The medics decided no further treatment was needed, but Airen's usual clear white skin was now covered in dirt, showing painful burn marks.

It was clear how fierce the battle had been.

Still, seeing Airen's satisfied sleeping face, Wayne sighed quietly.

 ──"Good."

It was a sigh of relief.

Wayne had secretly stayed behind to help Airen, but the war was more brutal and intense than he had imagined.

 "I couldn't do anything."

Wayne muttered, his face showing his frustration as he looked down.

If it had been Randy there instead of him... He felt terrible for even being a little jealous of his friend.

After looking down for a moment, Wayne firmly closed his mouth and lifted his face with determination.

(Stop being gloomy, Wayne Behrst! If you can't do it now, just become able to do it later.)

Wayne slapped his cheeks with energy──his sound echoed through the medical facility, drawing coughs from medics and disapproving looks that seemed to say "be quiet."

Embarrassed and sorry, Wayne hunched his back again.

As he naturally moved closer to Airen, a sweet, gentle scent tickled his nostrils.

He hadn't noticed it in the chaos of battle, but now, in this moment, he could tell.

 "...This scent──"

The smell familiar to Wayne was the perfume that the young ladies of the academy applied to their hair.

It was one of the beauty products sold by Braubelg and the most popular scent among their perfumes.

By the way, the perfume Airen wore was a souvenir that Randy and Liz had brought back.

For Wayne, it was a familiar fragrance... a scent that reminded him of girls.

Airen, who had never shown any feminine gestures, unexpectedly revealed a side of herself that made Wayne's face turn red as he stood up.

(This is bad. I'm so creepy!)

Wayne slapped his cheeks multiple times without thinking...

 "Mmm, mmm!"

Just then, with a loud cough, a medical officer appeared right behind Wayne.

"If you can't be quiet, wait outside."

The medical officer, looking like a delinquent, grabbed Wayne by the collar and tossed him outside without hesitation.

 "Ugh!"

Embarrassed and feeling guilty, Wayne looked up at the bright white tent while still sitting down.

 "Woof!"

Behind Wayne, a beautifully lush ice wolf──Yamada──appeared.

 "...Is it you?"

Noticing Yamada, Wayne gently patted its head.

"Are you worried about the milady too?"

Wayne smiled, and Yamada replied with a "Kuh-woof."

Though ice wolves were naturally smart, the way it seemed to respond felt like a conversation, making Wayne smile unconsciously.

 "It's okay. She's just fainted."

Seeing Wayne's smile, Yamada wagged its tail happily and barked "Woof!"

Wayne was surprised that a conversation seemed to be happening, and at the same time, he remembered a rumor.

──Recently, Lady Airen has been taking care of an ice wolf.

 "That's such a strange name..."

Just as he murmured that, he leaned closer to Yamada.

"You didn't get a name from Milady, did you?"

 How envious.

Wayne's eyes were full of passion, and Yamada tilted his head, looking troubled.

After all, it was Randy who named him Yamada.

But Wayne didn't know that, and he was pressing Yamada, saying, "Spit it out! Spit out your name!"

"Hey, Wayne. If you bully Yamada, Lady Airen will scold you."

The lightly injured person went past, laughing.

Wayne watched his back and then turned to Yamada, "Yamada...?"

It was certainly an unfamiliar name.

But, it was possible for Airen.

She had a terrible sense in that kind of thing.

Originally, Ice Wolves usually get a part of their name from their partner.

He should have a real name, but now it's 'Yamada'.

Normally, he would think "How pitiful," but that was Wayne.

"To have the Milady give you a nickname... I'm too envious."

It's another story that Wayne, who was strangely competitive with Yamada, would ask Airen to give him a nickname a few days later.

 ...And then,

"Yamada? Oh, Randolph boy gave it. If you want one so much, I'll ask him for you."

 "Huh? What? Randolph?"

It's another story that Wayne knelt down when he found out Randy had the naming rights, and Randy frowned and said, "No way."

"Of course not! Why do I have to let him give me a nickname!"

 Wayne got angry...
