Volume 6 Chapter 63-2 I Want to Keep the Place of Memories Beautiful
Randy snorted mockingly, and the men hiding in the darkness crouched down and kept their distance.
"So? What are you guys, the Pilgrims of Truth, doing here?"
Randy laughed widely, and the men exchanged glances, returning his grin with a creepy smile.
"Do you think I'll tell you? ...But fine. This lighthouse will be your and the fools' tombstone──Guh!"
Just like that, the man who had been grinning found himself grabbed by the throat by Randy, lifted off the ground.
Randy appeared between them in an instant, and the other men hurriedly backed away.
The man caught in Randy's grip gasped, "L-Let go──" and began to struggle desperately.
Thanks to the gentle grip, he could still speak, making his resistance quite fierce.
He tightened both hands around Randy's wrist.
He kicked Randy's stomach with flailing legs.
But no matter how hard he tried, it didn't budge Randy at all.
"What did you say about tombstones?"
Randy's cold gaze sent chills down the man's spine, but with his life on the line, he continued to struggle, literally fighting for his life, shouting, "L-Let me go!"
Ignoring the man, Randy looked at the base of the lighthouse.
It was hard to see without moonlight, but he could make out what looked like a magic circle.
"Looks like you guys want to blow up the lighthouse and bring it down on the town."
Randy sighed and said, "What a mess," his eyes filled with killing intent.
──Crack!
A dull sound echoed around, and the man went limp, his limbs falling uselessly.
"Y-You──"
The remaining men radiated killing intent and got ready, but it was too late.
Randy, having tossed the man aside, rolled his shoulders and glared at the others.
"Don't worry. I'll just break all your necks."
The view from here, and this place, held precious memories with Liz and Ellie.
Just like the town, he couldn't let their blood stain this place.
So, Randy glared at them and vanished.
The distance between them became 0.
Without anyone able to react, Randy struck one man's head.
It was more of a push than a hit, the impact slightly off.
The man's head jerked sharply.
Before the sound of breaking bones could echo, Randy spun around for a lariat.
This time, the impact shifted, but that strike crushed another man's neck.
Randy grabbed the flying man's legs and threw him at 2 others.
The two who couldn't dodge fell over from the force.
Randy stomped on the neck of one of his own men, and then...
"Wait──"
...the last man begged, but Randy crushed his neck and shattered the bones.
In an instant, the 4 fell silent, making the remaining 2 men slowly back away.
"What's wrong? You can run if you want."
With a smirk, Randy watched as one man jumped into the sea, while the other leaped toward the town.
"Not bad."
Without hesitation, Randy chased after the men.
First, he went toward the sea... Unlike the man who jumped, Randy kicked off the cliff with force and caught up to him halfway down.
"You fool──"
"You're the fool."
Ignoring the man's scream of "Stop!" Randy grabbed his face and rubbed it against the rocky surface.
The raw sound of flesh scraping echoed, turning into the crunch of bones, until finally, Randy's hand gripped the rock.
At the same time, the man's body fell weakly.
──Thud
With a dry sound, the headless corpse dropped into the harbor.
The wound burned from the friction, and the body bled little, showing Randy's care not to dirty Braubelg's harbor.
Soldiers guarding the harbor gathered around the fallen man.
It wasn't too noisy, probably because Miranda arranged things well.
Leaving the cleanup to them, Randy tightened his grip on the rock.
Focusing on his fingertips, he pushed the large rock down, flexing his biceps.
With that force, Randy's body shot up into the air... He was launched back to the top of the cliff.
Randy erased the magic circle on the lighthouse with Craft and looked down at the town, saying, "Now then."
"Shall I chase the last one?"
From his high vantage point, Randy saw the man still fleeing with the lighthouse behind him.
No, to be precise, he sensed the presence he had learned earlier fading away.
The man swayed from side to side, trying to escape from the Dark Tide, but it seemed he had a specific destination in mind.
"I guess I'll be guided to the nest."
Randy locked onto the fleeing man and left the cliff behind.
The smoke signal that should have risen failed, and in the town, the Pilgrims of Truth were caught off guard, easily taken down by the Dark Tide led by Miranda.
Given the situation, the man Randy chased was heading toward the key player for the fall of Heisenberg.
He needed to announce the mission's failure and the changes that must be made at all costs.
He had no idea that a monster, hiding its presence completely, was closing in behind him.
