Volume 6 Chapter 61 if a Teleportation Gate Is Made, I Would Also Like to Have One at My Parents' House
Randy and his friends started researching the teleportation gate, and it had already been almost 2 weeks.
Spring break, which started at the beginning of March, was about to move into April.
The first half of spring break was focused on the town's concept and Madame, while the second half was mostly spent analyzing the teleportation gate.
The original school opening day and the solar eclipse that should come after it were almost here, but even with just 2 weeks of effort, they made a lot of progress on the teleportation gate.
However, it wasn't all good news in these two weeks.
The Pilgrim of Truth, who had been lurking in various places, started to make moves.
The kingdom's government was in chaos because the Pilgrim of Truth began activities that were almost like terrorism all over the kingdom.
It's not surprising.
The kingdom has many lands, not just those owned by nobles like Braubelg, but also direct national territories.
In fact, the national territories are often larger.
Nobles in charge of managing those lands all sent petitions to the government at once.
Additionally, seizing the Church's estates was not helpful at all.
The overly aggressive method earned great resentment from the believers, and this was well-known in the kingdom.
The series of events starting from taking those estates has been tightening the kingdom's neck.
Without going into details, it's been about a week since the kingdom completely refused to allow believers to immigrate abroad.
Angry believers began a big demonstration march every day in the royal capital.
It was supposed to be a 'don't bully the believers' demonstration that Catherine originally planned.
By the way, when Randy heard about it, he thought, "Wow, Catherine is merciless."
It's no surprise that he smiled wryly at a situation that could only add to their troubles.
However, according to a letter from Catherine, she was not the one leading the demonstration.
Although Catherine thought it was best to avoid a demonstration given the situation, she found out that the protest was happening anyway.
So, there must be another instigator.
Randy already knows who it is, without even asking.
Anyway, the demonstration that won the people's sympathy grew quickly in the royal capital. On the very day the government was about to respond, the activities of the [Pilgrim of Truth] also began.
Because of the [Pilgrim of Truth] becoming more visible, the lands taken from the Church by the kingdom further tightened the kingdom's grip. After all, having poorly managed lands in this situation is like saying, "Please occupy this territory," to a terrorist group.
The chain of troubles flowing from the demonstration made people within the kingdom whisper that heretics appeared because the kingdom had disrespected the goddess.
Unrelated issues were all blamed on them because of the kingdom's mistakes.
Anyway.
Even while worrying about such chaos, Randy and Ellie were deep in analysis in front of the teleportation gate today.
"The remaining issues are, the coordinate specification and the energy problem, right?"
Around Randy, who scratched his head, there was a mountain of piled-up memos.
This was the result of calculations done by Ellie and Liz over the past 2 weeks.
"If we use magic stones for energy... coordinate specification normally connects teleportation gates."
With a sigh, Ellie agreed, "Yeah, that's true," and Randy sighed back.
"It's really too much to prepare another teleportation gate..."
As Randy said, they still haven't finished analyzing the materials for the teleportation gate.
While they made it possible to teleport using coordinates, the specification for the teleportation gate was still unclear.
Normally, it's difficult to specify coordinates to connect teleportation gates.
To solve this, they need to create a new teleportation gate, but they simply don't have the materials.
Or rather, they don't know what the materials are.
They want to break it down to check the materials, but if they do that, all the runes and magic circuits will be destroyed, so they can't just break it apart easily.
Even with all these 'no materials' troubles, getting this far shows how brilliant Liz and Ellie are.
"Let's try some other ideas."
"Okay."
Ellie nodded, and Liz inside her nodded too.
The 3 of them started to think of other ways to set the teleportation spot.
First, making fake coordinates.
...They could figure out the coordinates by looking at where the gate and the stars are.
Second, using the person's image.
...They could decide the coordinates based on the person's memory of the place.
Third, making fixed coordinates with a magic circle.
...This would be like a new way to set the spot, instead of the gate.
Randy liked the idea of fake coordinates that Liz came up with.
It's like using numbers, like on a map, to find the place before they go.
"So? Does anyone know about stars?"
"Nope. Not even Liz."
"Yeah, you're right."
Randy was sad. Nobody knew anything about stars.
If they wanted to use the stars to find the place, they'd have to watch the sky for a long time near the gate and at the place they want to go.
"Then, what about using the person's mind?"
Randy came up with this idea.
Like with teleportation magic, maybe they could just use the person's thoughts to set the spot.
"That won't work. Teleportation magic and the gate are totally different. If you can imagine the place well enough to set the spot with the gate..."
"It's faster to just learn teleportation magic from the start."
Randy scratched his head, and Ellie said, "That's right."
Even if they had different levels of magic power, if they could imagine the place well enough to open the gate, magic would be faster.
"So, that leaves us with..."
"The magic circle to make a fixed spot."
Ellie said she would try it and went outside.
It was already getting dark at the port, but it was lively, as if a ship had just docked.
On the masts basking in the sunset, the shining Braubelg emblem was visible.
Liz looked up at it, her eyes trembling slightly.
Then she suddenly switched places again with Ellie.
Lately, Ellie had been going out more, probably worried about home.
To cheer up Liz, Randy spoke in a bright voice, "Let's hurry and do the experiment!"
