Volume 17 Chapter 24 Vs Violet Vanguard Razerseid
"Gnnnnn...!"
Ziredurzo stands firm.
But he's gradually being pushed back.
Still, just holding his own is a testament to his incredible magic power.
Bernard's full-force attack was scattered in an instant──.
"Hang in there, Ziri-rin!"
"Don't call me by that weird nameeeee!"
With a scream, a aura of magic power burst from Ziredurzo's entire body.
Zzzzzzzip!
A wave of red magic power pushed back the purple current.
Whoosh...!
The red and purple lights intertwined, entwined, and flew off in the direction of the day after tomorrow, where they exploded.
"Hah, hah, hah..."
"Hmph? To withstand my strike..."
Razerseid let out a faint laugh.
"Seems like a high-ranking demon. Could be a Demon King, or at least close to having that kind of power."
"Of course. I'm the man who will become the next Demon King."
Ziredurzo sneered.
"Amazing...!"
Rath looked at Ziredurzo, his eyes shining.
"You're incredible! True to your reputation as a high-ranking demon!"
"Hmph, you can praise me more."
"You're a formidable enemy, but with you, I think we can win, Ziredurzo."
"Huh?"
"I'm counting on you, Ziredurzo."
"Oh...! You called me by my name!"
Ziredurzo's face lit up.
His eyes were moist.
"I am extremely, very, intensely moved right now...!"
"Hm? Is that enough to make you happy?"
Rath asked, puzzled.
"I'll call you by your name. Ziredurzo"
"UOOOOOOOOH!"
The high-ranking demon shouted.
"One more time! Please, one more time!"
"I, I guess..."
Rath seemed a bit hesitant.
"Um... Ziredurzo"
"UOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!"
The demon seemed to grow even more excited.
"Alright, now that you're pumped up, go and take down that guy for me."
"Huh, me!?"
"Of course, you're the only one here who can do it!"
Rath retorts calmly.
"N-no way! Fighting this guy is kinda..."
"Suddenly losing your nerve?"
This time, Mirabell jumps in.
"Quit whining──grrr!"
"He's right. You can do this."
Bernard cheers him on too.
Truth is, Ziredurzo's combat skills as a high-rank demon make him a huge asset.
They can't afford him chickening out now.
"Are you stupid?! The [Arch Legion] is that──the legendary strongest race in the Demon World! They rival──no, surpass gods and Demon Kings! There's no way I can win!"
Ziredurzo rants.
"Right now, your power's the most effective. That's a fact."
Bernard reasons.
"Not saying you fight alone. I'll help too──even if it's just a little."
"...You really think your power'll work?"
Ziredurzo glares at Bernard.
"Nope."
He admits flatly.
Honestly, Bernard stands no chance against Razerseid──he couldn't even scratch him.
"So I'll focus on support. You're the main attacker."
"Support role..."
"You haven't landed a direct hit yet. Let's start there."
"A direct hit..."
Ziredurzo mulls it over.
His earlier fear seems to fade.
Thinking your enemy's unbeatable just paralyzes you.
So Bernard gave him a reachable goal first.
Even if they can't win in one strike, landing one is step one.
And beyond that──victory might just be waiting.
"You fought well earlier, but cowering before me? Pathetic."
Razerseid raises his harpoon.
"Or are you stalling for reinforcements? My [Exploration] sees right through you. One approaches... Hmph."
Razerseid mutters, half to himself, scanning the area.
"Bestowal and Change seem to be defeated near Farnekē. Illusion, Magic Bullet, Stop, and Exploration are at Vertemis. Destruction and teleportation are wandering in the First Layer. Many War Horse Knights guarding the First Layer have also fallen... Hmph, this time looks promising."
A purple light gathers at the tip of the raised spear.
"But you all don't have much power yourselves. Now, it's my second attack. How will you defend this time──?"
"Ugh..."
The enemy isn't kind enough to wait for our strategy to come together.
"What should we do──?"
Bernard held his staff firmly.
Even so, he's the only one who can put himself on the line here.
Mirabell and Rath can't use magic.
They have no way to resist this rushing tide.
He need to create an opening for Ziredurzo to attack somehow...
"Next is a strike imbued with Destruction──so how will you defend? Show me your power!"
Whoosh... ha!
Countless black particles gather around the whole spear that he thrust forward.
"Convince me you have the power to save the stars!"
Razerseid approached with a gleaming black spear in hand.
He has to somehow hold him off, even if just for a moment.
"Blazing Arrow!"
Bernard shot a swarm of fiery arrows.
This isn't strong enough to be a final blow.
He hasn't even learned such powerful magic.
He has no talent for learning.
So this is just a distraction.
If he can create even the slightest opening for Ziredurzo to attack, that's enough...
"Ridiculous."
Whoosh!
With a swing of his spear, Razerseid instantly wiped away the dozens of fiery arrows Bernard shot.
Not even a hindrance.
To the enemy, Bernard's magic is probably just like pests buzzing around his face──nothing at all.
"Just a feint? Even so, this is far too weak. A feint or not, at least do this much──"
Gouh!
A jet of water spurted from the spear's tip.
"Guh──"
"A feint to them, but a fatal area attack from Bernard."
Moreover, right after launching the attack, Bernard's magic power isn't recovered enough to use defensive magic immediately.
"This is bad...!"
The jet of water surged, pressing forward──.
"[Celestial Claw Black Lightning Slash]"
Zzzz...!
In a flash, a black light rushed past from the side, splitting the jet of water in 2, flowing around Bernard and the others.
"What...!?"
"Did someone... cut the water, the jet!?"
Even the usually composed Razerseid let out a voice of surprise.
Sparkling remnants of black light danced like snowflakes.
And from beyond that, the sound of footsteps, thud, thud, drew near.
And who appeared was──a lone female swordsman.
