Volume 6 Chapter 61 Sanmoto Arc Begins!
The island nation of Sanmoto.
It is a country surrounded by the sea, making it necessary to cross the waters to engage with neighboring nations.
Perhaps because of this, a unique culture and civilization have developed here that cannot be found in other countries.
At the same time, it is also known for its long history of conflict.
However, that is a tale from over a century ago.
Most citizens now belong to a generation that knows nothing of the great wars, and though there are disputes among the powerful or individuals, overall, they are enjoying a peaceful and prosperous life.
"Who knew solid ground could be so appreciated?"
"I too felt something similar when I left Sanmoto," I replied.
As I expressed my gratitude for the unshaken land beneath my feet, Mikage agreed with a laugh.
It had been about 2 weeks since my duel with Rouza, and we had safely set foot in Sanmoto.
Ordinarily, it would take more than a month to travel from Arcus's royal capital (Blesstia) to Sanmoto, yet we accomplished that journey in under half the time.
Naturally, there is a reason for this.
"Hahaha! Just as expected from a newly built ship! I never imagined we'd arrive this early!"
Rouza, who had disembarked a bit after me and Mikage, was laughing heartily with Getsuya by his side.
It was none other than Rouza's influence that allowed us to reach Sanmoto so quickly.
First, we utilized a special carriage when departing Blesstia.
While it's conveniently called a 'carriage', it was actually drawn by a specially trained monster.
Used primarily by the wealthy, this carriage allowed for faster and longer travel than standard ones, and we rushed to the nearest port with it.
Furthermore, instead of a typical sailing ship that catches the wind, we used a newly constructed vessel powered by magic.
This too was a luxury boat for the rich, capable of moving swiftly toward any direction without being affected by the weather or wind.
Both the carriage and the ship, as mentioned earlier, are things that wealthy individuals use for their hobbies.
The monster carriage is incredibly rare since training a monster is a tough nut to crack.
Even in the royal capital, we only had a limited number available from what we used.
As for the newly constructed ships, since they run on magical power, we will need magicians, and if we want to rush it to Sanmoto, we'll have to hire several people.
In any case, the fare has skyrocketed.
Not only did we cover our own expenses, but we also paid for the fares of all our companions.
After adding in the repairs for Kyunei's clinic, it seems Rouza practically exhausted his entire fortune that he earned at the Arcus casino.
However, for Rouza himself, it seems to be his principle that "money earned at the casino of that country is to be spent in that country," so he even muttered that it was good to finally have a way to spend his money.
Surprisingly, it was none other than Rudel who made the travel arrangements.
Although he had no intention of bragging, somehow he showed up right in front of us the day after we decided to set out for Sanmoto, having already arranged for the carriage and ship.
By the way, it struck me as strange that he didn't show up for my duel with Rouza, even now.
I figured this guy, who claims to be my fan, would definitely show up uninvited.
When I heard that, he was filled with regret, nearly weeping blood over it.
He was supposed to rush over even if it cost him, but it turned out he was tied up with an unavoidable job.
He said that all the arrangements were to make up for it.
Rudel even suggested he wanted to accompany us to Sanmoto, but claimed he had another appointment, declining while lamenting fiercely.
Although I hadn't specifically asked for it, I decided to gratefully accept his help and thought about buying some souvenirs from Sanmoto as a thank you.
Thus, we set sail from the port, and while it was a fast ship, it was my first ever sea voyage, and it took several days.
Mikage and I had some concerns due to the unstable footing, as you can see.
Rouza and his guard, Getsuya, were in a similar boat.
The guards themselves were outwardly calm.
The real issue lies with Aina and Reed.
"Alright, Aina-chan. Stay calm and take it one step at a time, okay?"
"Uuuuh, I'm so sorry for the trouble! Ha... the ground is there..."
Aina, her face pale and guided by Kyunei, was stepping off the ship with unsteady feet while holding her mouth.
Normally bright and intelligent, she looked completely different, but there was something fleetingly cute about her──just between us.
If I said that, Aina would definitely get grumpy.
The first day was fine, but starting the next day, she was down with seasickness.
Unfortunately, healing magic didn't do much for her condition, and the only remedies seemed to be distracting massages and acupressure.
Kyunei seemed to be feeling a bit off too, but she maintained her composure as a doctor, putting on a brave face in front of Aina, who was feeling worse.
She truly embodies what it means to be a model doctor.
"Hey, Kyunei-chan. I'm feeling a bit rough too, you know?"
"Sorry, but I only have 2 hands and one body. You need to tough it out since you're training."
"Wow, that's tough love... oh no, I feel sick... ugh!"
After Aina and Kyunei, Reed stumbled off the ship, stiffening up and quickly covering her mouth as she leaned over the edge of the dock.
It seemed like her stomach contents were about to make a reappearance.
Looking closely, fish were gathering near the surface of the water where he had peeked out.
Like Aina, she was suffering from severe seasickness and had often been feeding the fish during the voyage.
"Come on, let it all out and feel better. I'll get you some water afterward."
"Thanks, Mom."
"Who's your mom?"
As Reed weakly complained, Kyunei, who was rubbing her back, quickly shot back with a witty remark.
Among their group, Kyunei had always been the big sister figure, but with Reed, she treated her like a peer without any reservations.
They both seemed to enjoy that dynamic, which was clear to anyone watching from the outside.
