Volume 2 Chapter 5 The Dismissed Aide and the Foolish Four Heavenly Kings 1 [Iliga ①]
In the meantime, Guildmasterwas training the Hero Party.
This was the land known as the Demon King's nation, home to the Demon King and his subordinates, the demons.
At a fortress called the North Wall, which bordered the Human realm.
"Vivre. You're fired. Get lost already."
On the top floor of the fortress room.
One of the Four Kings, [Iliga of the Northern], said to a girl who was bowing down before him.
"I-I'm... fired...? Sir Iliga?"
Vivre looked up at her superior, Iliga, with a stunned expression.
Iliga of the Northern.
At first glance, he appeared human, but in reality, the amount of magical power contained within him was extraordinary.
With sky-blue skin and hair reminiscent of the deep sea.
Two horns jutted from his forehead, and his sharp ca9 teeth hinted at a demonic presence.
"That's right, Vivre. Starting today, you're no longer an [Aide to the Four Kings]. Now scram from the North Wall, you worthless trash."
Iliga glared at her with a look of utter contempt.
Vivre.
At first glance... or rather, no matter how you looked at it, she was clearly a human girl.
Her long chestnut hair was braided beautifully.
Her voluptuous bust and curvy waist certainly made for an attractive appearance.
Her large, sparkling eyes, round face, and adorable double-canine teeth all contributed to the image of a simply charming young human woman.
"W-why am I being relieved of my duties as an aide?"
"It's simple. You're useless... because you can't use magic. The weakest of the weak."
Spit!
Iliga contemptuously spat on the ground.
"What defines us as demons? What keeps us demonic?"
"Our powerful magical abilities... that's what."
"Exactly! You're a demon, yet you can't use magic at all! A defective demon! You're a disgrace to your kind!"
Vivre gasped, struggling to find her words.
"I-I know I'm a demon, but for some reason, I've been unable to use magic since birth... but! I've worked hard, despite my limitations!"
"Hmph! What kind of effort are you talking about, octopus! You haven't even killed a single human yet. In fact, you let a captured human escape, didn't you?"
"W-well, that's because... capturing a human child is... just too pitiful..."
CRACK!
Iliga's veins bulged on his forehead.
"Ohoho... You think you can defy me? You're billions of years too early!"
Iliga's voice grew fierce.
The entire scene froze at that moment.
This power wasn't from magic, but pure rage alone.
The Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King weren't just for show.
Vivre cowered in fear before the might of the Northern Heavenly King.
"That's right, what I can't forgive is a demon being scared of death!"
"I-it's impossible... Everyone is... afraid of dying..."
Hmph!
Iliga spat disdainfully.
"Can't use magic, won't follow orders, and you're a coward to boot. It's a miracle you haven't been fired already!"
"T-that's because... the previous lord entrusted me with the role of assistant..."
The assistant before Iliga was exceptionally talented.
A trusted subordinate.
The previous lord, an orphan himself, took in and raised Vivre.
When he retired, he chose Vivre as the next assistant, not the fierce warriors of the North Wall.
The reason for that choice remained unspoken even after the previous assistant was gone.
"I kept you around because you were the old man's legacy, but I can't take it anymore! You're fired, Vivre. Pack your bags and get out of this country!"
"This... country? Y-you mean... even the Demon King's army is firing me!?"
"That's right! A demon who can't use magic is trash! So you're fired. Disappear, you waste!"
Vivre's eyes welled up with tears.
"Calling me trash... That's harsh... I thought we were the same, being demons..."
"Hmph! I never considered an incompetent like you as one of us, and neither does anyone else! Right, [Tzuqaine]?"
The one who entered the room was a tall demon.
"Yes, that's right, Sir Iliga"
With the sharp click-clack of heels against the ground, she approached Vivre's side.
"Who... who are you?"
"I'm Tzuqaine. The new assistant."
"Ah, the new assistant... So, so... My job is..."
"That's right. Demon King has approved it. You're fired, useless."
"Scram, you pathetic scum."
Vivre weeps, her shoulders shaking, wiping at her eyes.
She had been found and raised by someone she looked up to, and she had desperately tried to fulfill her role as assistant.
To not be recognized for her efforts was painful, but more so was the fact that she had failed to complete the task entrusted to her by her predecessor.
"Understood. I shall take my leave..."
She bows and shuffles out the door.
"Wait, Vivre."
"What is it, Sir Iliga... ?"
Ilegal smirked wickedly.
"I'm going to have you killed."
"Wh-what!? Why!?"
Caught off guard, Viv stumbles back.
Tskwaeene chuckles as well.
"Naturally, wouldn't you agree? You were the assistant to a former Four Heavenly Kings. It would be dangerous to leave someone who knows the inner workings alive, what if you gave that information to the Hero? Killing you is only reasonable, wouldn't you say?"
Vivre's face pales.
"P-please... don't kill me..."
She tries to run, but it's no use.
After all, facing the overwhelming magic that explodes from Iliga... her fighting spirit crumbles completely.
The raging magic affects the weather itself.
The clear blue sky is instantly shrouded in snow clouds, and a blizzard rages.
"What... such powerful ice magic..."
"Huh? What are you talking about, idiot? This isn't even magic. I just let out a little bit of my power."
"As expected, Sir Iliga. You could have caused a natural disaster with just pure magic. If it were magician, that would have killed all of Human's Hero."
"Kuku, Farewell, I'll fail. I hope you can reincarnate as a demon that can be used in the next life, Vivre."
Iliga unleashed his magic.
It was a highly amplified version of the colossal magic used by humans.
The blizzard that erupted swept Vivre away in an instant.
"Looks like she's done for."
"Of course! No one has ever survived my magic!"
...Well then.
As for Vivre after that...
"Ugh, uuu..."
Surprisingly, she was still alive.
Even after being struck directly by the Ice magic of one of the Demon King's Four Heavenly Kings.
"I can't... take it anymore... predecessors... I'm so sorry..."
Just then,
"Not yet. It's too soon to give up."
With a soft groan, she opened her eyes.
And there stood Act Age.
