Volume 1 Chapter 38 ★ The Fallen Guildmaster [Irankus V]
While the Guildmaster Act gained even more fame thanks to Hero Lawrence's exploits, around that time...
The master of the guild who expelled Act, a guy named Irankus...
"UGH... DAMMIT... DAMMIT ALL..."
He's in the Guild [Trueborn Hero] hall.
In the vast Guild hall, there's only Irankus, all alone, sitting quietly.
A bottle of cheap booze is on the table, and he's licking it bit by bit, tears streaming down his face.
"Why... how did it come to this... what did I do wrong...?"
Irankus was told by the Guild Association Headquarters Chief that he was being stripped of his Guildmaster position.
Once renowned for its prosperity, the fame of [Trueborn Hero] has now hit rock bottom.
Nobody wants to join Irankus's guild, and all the Guild members have left him too.
"DAMN... ACT... EVERYTHING WENT TO HELL AFTER ACT AGE DISAPPEARED... BASTARD... DAMMIT..."
A professional at spotting hidden talent and nurturing people.
He was also good at assigning the right requests to his Guild members.
"Act... come back... please... DAMMIT..."
And then, at that moment.
"Oh? Are you still here?"
Standing at the entrance was a man with white hair.
His ageless, glossy skin, fox-like narrow eyes, and silver-rimmed glasses were quite distinctive.
"Oh, you're [Fyodor]!"
"Oh, you finally remember my name. Yes, it's [Fyodor]. I used to be the vice-Guildmaster here."
The former vice-Guildmaster with white hair strolled over to Irankus.
"WH, WHAT DO YOU WANT! IT'S TOO LATE TO SAY YOU WANT TO COME BACK TO [TRUEBORN HERO] NOW!"
"Of course it is. Don't you forget, after you left your guild, I started my own."
The other day, at the Guild Association, I'm pretty sure he said something like that.
"Guild [Seven Deadly Sins]. That's the name of the Guild I made. Nice to meet you."
"Seven Deadly Sins... HMPH! THAT'S A PERFECT GUILD NAME FOR A TRAITOR LIKE YOU!"
"I'm not a traitor, though. I just left the incompetent boss and became independent."
Fyodor said, looking down at him with disdain.
"HUH, INCOMPETENT, YOU SAY!"
"You chased away such an incredibly talented person like Act, and this is the result! What else could you be called besides incompetent?"
"GAH...!"
"On the other hand, it's just that Act left. That you couldn't keep the Guild going after that is solely because of your incompetence and lack of effort, right?"
"TH-THAT IS..."
Truth be told, Irankus didn't do anything until he realized the seriousness of the situation.
He realized that the Guild was prospering because of Act, and the first thing he did was try to bring him back.
"That's where you're wrong. Even if he's gone, you should have rebuilt the Guild with your own power. The moment you relied on others, you were no longer a Guildmaster - no, you were a Guildmaster disgrace."
Fyodor calmly and relentlessly presented the facts, leaving Irankus speechless.
"GAH, UGH, UGHAAAAAAAAAA!"
He lunged at Fyodor in a wild, clumsy charge.
CRASH! Irankus tripped over his own feet and face-planted hard into the floor.
Fyodor neatly stepped aside, dusting off his sleeve.
"Really? Throwing a tantrum and diving headfirst into the ground? Very professional."
He gave a slow, sarcastic clap.
"Bravo, Guildmaster. Truly an inspiration to us all."
"DAMN YOU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, FYODOR! THIS IS MY GUILD! GET OUT OF MY CASTLE, YOU OUTSIDER!"
Even though Irankus raises his voice, Fyodor remains calm and says,
"No, this is no longer your castle."
A moment of silence hangs in the air.
Irankus just couldn't wrap his head around the meaning of his words at first.
"WH-WHAT... DO YOU MEAN?"
"This building is no longer your Guild Hall. It now belongs to us, the [Seven Deadly Sins]."
His heart was pounding wildly, sweat trickling down his back under his clothes.
"N-NO, NO! STOP LYING! THIS IS MY CASTLE!"
"No, I'm afraid not. Let me show you the proof."
Pulling it out from his pocket was a deed for the land and the building, issued by the association.
There, in the user's column, was written [Fyodor] of the [Seven Deadly Sins].
"TH-THAT CAN'T BE..."
"A Guild Hall is an association-owned building. The Human appointed as Guildmaster is granted usage rights by the association's Headquarters Chief and is responsible for running it. So, technically, this was never really your castle to begin with."
