Volume 1 Chapter 38-2 ★ The Fallen Guildmaster [Irankus V]

"This is impossible... This is... My Guild, my castle..."

Irankus mutters to himself, dumbfounded, but Fyodor snaps his fingers.

Moving men barge into the Guild.

"Alright, just bring the stuff in."

"What about the stuff from the old Guild?"

 "Just chuck it outside."

The movers nod and start working.

 "STOP IT, STOP IT, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Irankus clings desperately to the leg of one of the movers, wailing like his life depends on it.

"This is mine! You're stealing my castle!"

 "Cut the crap, old man!"

 BANG!

The mover kicks Irankus off without a second thought, sending him tumbling across the floor like a ragdoll.

"Stop it... If I lose this, what am I left with... What's left for me..."

With no Guild Members, no staff, this empty, hollow castle was all that remained, the only thing that made him Guildmaster.

If he lost it, the only thing left to define him as Guildmaster was this badge.

The badge, glowing on his chest, was a symbol only a Guildmaster could wear.

He had refused to return it when the Headquarters Chief demanded it back.

In the end, they said he could keep it until a formal decision was made.

"Mr. Irankus. Please give up. You're not Guildmaster anymore."

"NO! NO! I AM THE GUILDMASTER OF THE [TRUEBORN HERO]! IRANKUS!"

"You have officially been removed from the Guildmaster list. Please return the badge and the Guild Hall to the Headquarters. This is the Headquarters Chief's order."

 "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Fyodor lets out a tired sigh, truly exasperated, and snaps his fingers.

A burly man, cloaked head to toe in a black cloak, appears out of nowhere.

 "Take the badge from him."

The man nods and grabs Irankus' arm, lifting him up.

Compared to this giant, Irankus looks like a child.

 "Let it go! My badge...!"

The man ripped the Guildmaster's badge away and hurled it to Fyodor.

Despair seeped into Irankus.

The symbol of his Guildmaster status was slipping from his grasp.

 His one and only pride.

To be just another faceless nobody, he hated it.

"No! Give it back! Give it back!"

"Rage, please escort Irankus out of town with respect."

 "NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOO!"

Though he flailed his limbs, the massive man called Rage wouldn't let go of his grip.

Rage dragged Irankus out of the Guild Hall.

"Farewell, foolish former Guildmaster. You are no longer Guildmaster... but you are still an Adventurer, you know."

 Fyodor grinned.

"My Seven Deadly Sins Guild is always looking for Adventurers. Of course, I doubt you have the guts or the stamina to start from the bottom at your age..."

 "UWAAAAAH! AAAH! AAAH!"

He was dragged away by Rage.

Memories of everything that had happened until now flashed before his eyes like a carousel.

His status, his honor, and... his castle, all snatched away.

"Taken? What a foolish thing to say. Nothing in this world was ever truly yours to begin with."

 Fyodor said coldly.

"Many of your Guild Members supported the Guild. It was their efforts that made you Guildmaster. To think it was all your doing was a grave mistake."

A Guildmaster is ultimately someone who brings an organization together.

Even if Guild Members accomplished something great, it wasn't solely the Guildmaster's achievement.

It was the merit of the hard-working Guild Members.

Irankus hadn't even grasped this simple truth.

 Last...

Fyodor thrust his last words at the foolish former Guildmaster being dragged away.

"You always said that the Guild was your castle right up until the very end, but you're wrong. The Guild, including all the members and subordinates, is everyone's castle. You, who don't even understand that, have no right to be a leader."
