Volume 1 Chapter 34 The Banished Half-Elf and the Foolish Prince [Dranix VII]

Volume 1 Chapter 34 The Banished Half-Elf and the Foolish Prince [Dranix VII]

Some time had passed since Act had crushed Dranix's ambitions.

The half-elf, Mida, had been summoned to Act's room.

"Mr. Act! Long time no see!"

They moved to the sofa set and settled down.

"How is the reconstruction of your homeland going?"

"Yep! It's tough, but everyone is working with a lot of energy!"

Mida had been in her homeland, the Elven Kingdom, until recently.

Of course, as an adventurer, she was sent there on a quest.

Currently, her homeland was in the following situation:

 – The current king (Baranix) and the next king (Dranix) had been arrested for the murder of the previous king and declared criminals.

 – In the absence of a king, the Knight Commander—who turned out to be a hidden child of the royal family—had suddenly taken the throne.

 – The new king was, like the slain previous king, a tolerant person toward half-elves.

 – The country had restarted as a nation that welcomed a wide range of races, including half-elves, elves, and refugees from other countries.

"The Knight Commander... I mean, the current king, said to Act that you should take good care of him."

 "That's to be expected."

The maid, Frederica, brought tea and placed it in front of Mida and Act.

"The country is recovering now thanks to your master's support."

Act was currently sending a large sum of money to Mida's homeland.

Furthermore, at Act's call, countries led by Edward, the Crown Prince, had been supporting her country.

As a result, the debt caused by the Magic Dolls made by Dranix had completely disappeared.

"Thank you. The king said that if it weren't for your support, the country would have been in TROUBLE!"

"That's right. By now you would probably all be SLAVES to a merchant."

 Mida bowed deeply.

"For me, to do so much for me... I can't thank you enough..."

 Then Act snorted.

"You don't need to worry about it. I did it for myself, after all."

 "Huh...?"

"I merely wanted a strong connection with the elves. Moreover, I managed to create a significant debt with the new elven king, and with the acquisition of the rights to the Magic Dolls, my pockets have grown fuller. I should be the one expressing my gratitude."

Mida blinked in confusion, her eyes wide.

"In other words, Master is doing his best to ensure that Lady Mida doesn't worry. Right, Master?"

Act ignored Frederica and sipped his tea.

"See? He doesn't deny it. When this person is in a tough spot, he pretends he can't hear."

 "Did you say something?"

"I was just impressed, as always, by how remarkable Master is."

"That's right! Act-san is the KINDEST Guildmaster there is! I truly RESPECT you from the bottom of my heart!"

Hmph... Act turned away, sipping his tea.

 "Are you shy?"

 "Yes, quite shy indeed."

 "Guildmaster is surprisingly cute."

"Yes, but he's my master. I won't yield."

 Act let out a sigh.

"By the way, Mida. Let's get to the main topic."

Act narrowed his eyes and glared at Mida as he spoke.

"The reason I summoned you here today is straightforward. Mida, you are hereby EXPELLED from the Gem of Heavenly Gift from this day forth."

A sudden expulsion declaration from the Guildmaster.

 Yet, Mida remained unfazed.

"You have become a top-notch trainer and archer. You are now beyond what my Guild can handle. Hence, I have decided to expel you."

 "Oh... that's rather abrupt."

"Yes. Pack your things and leave the Guild promptly, Mida."

The maid who had been standing by handed Mida a letter.

"As for your next job, the new elven king of your country is looking for skilled archers. A position as the Vice Captain of the knights has been arranged for you, so go there."

 "Vice Captain of the knights..."

"...Good grief. How is this an unreasonable expulsion? I simply arranged for you to work in your hometown, where your companions are, providing you with a position and sending you off."

Mida's hometown was quite far from here.

Act was considerate in suggesting that it was better to have companions by her side rather than continuing her adventures here.

 However...

"It's a shame, Act. I won't become the Vice Knight Commander."

 "WHAT DID YOU SAY...?"

I returned the letter to Frederica and bowed my head.

"...What do you plan to do moving forward?"

 It was at that moment.

 "I'LL ANSWER THAT!"

 "Lawrence..."

The large man who opened the door and walked in was Hero Lawrence.

"Mida will join my HERO PARTY!"

 "WHAT DID YOU SAY...?"

Act glared at Lawrence and said,

"I thought I had already declined your offer?"

 "? What do you mean?"

 Frederica softly whispered to Mida.

"...Actually, we received an offer from Sir Lawrence as well, that he wants Lady Mida to join his party. However, I declined due to your potential as a hero meaning you would have less time in your hometown."

Always considering his subordinates' well-being, he provided them with their next place of work.

The man named Act Age, even for those who leave, prepared and sent them off with maximum happiness.

Due to his outstanding aftercare, even after they had left, everyone was happy to lend him their strength.

"...To consider that much for me..."

 Act sighed a deep sigh.

"Is it alright, Mida? You have a sick mother, don't you?"

Then, instead of Mida, Lawrence replied.

"THERE'S NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! The healer in my party will CURE her illness in a HEARTBEAT!"

"I see. So there is an excellent healer in your ranks."

By the way, that healer was Luna, the exiled healer who once resided at the Gem of Heavenly Gift.

After being expelled from Act's Guild, she joined the Hero Party.

"NOW, WITH THAT WORRY OUT OF THE WAY, IT MEANS YOU CAN JOIN MY PARTY WITHOUT HESITATION!"

"So, you're fine with that, Mida?"

 She nodded clearly.

"I've been given more than enough by you. So, this time, it's my turn to repay the favor. I've told Mother, and all my comrades the same."

"I see. Then do as you wish."

Mida stood up and bowed at a 90-degree angle.

"THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!"

"You chose this even after ruining the post I prepared. Don't even think about coming back here."

"YES! I'LL DO MY BEST FOR THE GUILDMASTER!"

Mida left the room with the Hero.

 Only Act and Frederica remained.

 "I don't get it."

 "What is it, Master?"

"Being the Deputy Knight Commander in her hometown should have been the best choice for her. Yet, why did she join the Hero's Party? For me? I don't understand."

Frederica smiled wryly and poured more tea.

"Certainly, if she returned to her hometown, she could live a happy life. But if she becomes active as a Hero Party member, the fame of Gem of Heavenly Gift will increase by raising many members of the Hero's party. Not to mention if they defeat the Demon King."

In other words, the maid continued,

"She chose the future she should pursue, not for herself, but for the Master."

Slurp... Act sipped his tea.

"That's what I don't understand. People should act with their own happiness as their top priority."

 Frederica said with a smile,

"Excuse me, Master, but please understand that everyone loves you very much."
