While Rai and Noah were having that conversation, the night naturally deepened, and people began to gather at the tavern.
Gradually, familiar faces started to collect, and cheerful topics filled the air along with bright laughter.
Rai watched this scene with a profound expression from a distance.
"Is something wrong, Senior?"
"──No."
Rai enjoyed witnessing such scenes.
The connections and smiles shared between people felt dazzling to him.
The reason Rai typically resided at the "Donkey Mane Inn" was that he wanted to see the warm interactions of the regulars who drank there.
He fought to protect the smiles and peace of these innocent people.
For Rai, it was a sight that reaffirmed that purpose.
The night deepened even further.
The regulars, nicely tipsy from the alcohol, finally noticed the unfamiliar faces at that point.
The two young individuals, who seemed rather out of place in this tavern.
"Huh? Who are you guys? Ain't seen you 'round here, have we?"
A stout man with a beard stumbled over to Rai and the others, leaning in with his flushed face.
The scent of alcohol wafting from his mouth almost made Rai grimace, but he held back and looked up.
This development was a chance.
With the alcohol dulling their wariness and making them more talkative,
an information source had just come right to them.
"Uh, yeah! We just stopped by the Eltor territory on a trip. ──Hey, big bro,"
Rai replied, tossing the conversation to Noah.
However, Noah just stared blankly at him without responding.
Frustrated, Rai lightly kicked Noah's leg under the table.
That seemed to finally get Noah's attention, and he sent a silent look back like, 'Uh, do you mean me, big bro!?' Rai nodded back without a word.
"That's right, we came from the southern──from the Teresa territory."
"Oh, you've come from really far then! How was it? Was it fun?"
With a beaming smile, the man asked Rai and the others.
In response, Rai answered with the knowledge he had gathered before coming here.
"I just arrived a little while ago, and I haven't done any sightseeing yet... I believe this place is famous for its livestock, right?"
"Oh yeah! The chorizo made from pig intestines is super delicious!!"
The man laughs heartily and downs his drink.
At that moment, Noah jumps into the main topic.
"We wanna eat some too, but it seems we can't place an order at this tavern right now."
Yes, the local specialty, which is often eaten, the sausage, for some reason can't be enjoyed right now.
It's not that the livestock industry has declined or that shipping is halted due to various circumstances.
It's because the economy here has gotten better than it was before.
The residents who make a living from livestock are doing well too.
──But why is that?
"Ah, we aren't sending any pigs there right now."
"Why is that?"
"Because the lord is offering a ridiculously high price for everything, that's why."
