Volume 3 Chapter 15 ACT.51 Answer Comparison (Ⅱ)
The black blade rose high, slicing through the shadow that crept up from behind.
That swing, meant to keep their foes at bay, cleaved the air, and the shadow retreated with a leap.
"We meet again, Reincarnator."
"Shut it."
The girl who spat out those ugly words, her venom matching the mood, was the same maid who had collapsed on the stairs just moments ago.
Yet, something about her was decidedly off.
Her twisted expression was marred by a glint of murderous intent in her eyes.
And in her hand was a heavy, leaden weapon, likely a decorative piece from the office.
She looked nothing like the girl who had previously trembled in fear of Rai's killing intent.
"See, I'm just not cut out for defense. I thrive on offense."
"Not exactly a knightly thing to say."
"Well, if I were just any knight, maybe. But we're Purge Knights. Our mission is to uphold our teachings and eliminate internal threats."
A sharp *clink* resonated as Rai gripped his blade.
His piercing gaze was fixed on the maid possessed by the Reincarnator.
Watching every move with meticulous care, Rai opened his mouth to speak.
"But now, everything is clear."
──From here on, it's the answer check.
"Your cheat has strict conditions. And you can't possess someone like me or Count Eltor."
She offered no response, her glare unyielding as Rai continued.
"So why did you choose to possess that girl the moment you tried to kill Count Eltor? Doesn't it seem odd? If you wanted to stop your heinous act, you could've possessed me directly. If not, why not possess Eltor and make your escape?"
The ability to possess and control others was undoubtedly a powerful cheat.
But precisely because of that, using it in such an illogical way would draw attention to itself.
This was why Noah had proposed this drastic act──to lure out the Reincarnator and pinpoint the finer details of the conditions.
Why had they chosen to inhabit the body of a girl who was physically weaker?
What drove she to take such a risk, stepping into the frail shell of someone less able?
Or rather, was she forced to do so?
"But then you, of all people, chose to possess a young girl's body and interfere with me. Does that mean you can't possess anyone else in this mansion?"
"──Shut up."
The girl gripped a blunt weapon with shaking hands, her voice trembling.
"Yesterday's attack wasn't to kill us; it was a distraction. You intentionally showed off your cheat (special ability) to heighten our vigilance and slow us down. Then, you tried to let Eltor escape."
Having said that, Rai swung his sword without looking at her.
The blade sliced into the floor, threatening Eltor who was crawling to escape.
"And one more thing. I realized that you, Eltor, weren't forced to cooperate with the Reincarnators. You chose to."
