Volume 2 Chapter 15 ACT.37 And the Gears Creak and Turn (ⅡI)
"'Everything is in a constant flow.' – That's the truth as I see it, but maybe they think otherwise."
"──Huh?"
Sitting on a sunlit terrace, the brawny blonde giant, Shigi, was lost in thought when someone suddenly spoke from behind him, causing him to let out a surprisingly high-pitched exclamation that did not fit his tough appearance.
When he turned around, there stood the black-haired boy with rainbow-colored eyes, the leader of Shigi's group – "Dragon King."
"What do you think, Shigi?"
"Me? Well, that seems about right, doesn't it? You know, like we learned in school about how rain turns into rivers?"
"– Are you kidding me?"
The instant Shigi answered the question, the atmosphere around Dragon King changed dramatically.
Though his youthful features remained, his expression shifted to a serious one, with furrowed brows.
Instead of being shaken by this transformation, Shigi merely raised an eyebrow, showing little reaction.
From this demeanor, it was clear that being with Dragon King had become a daily occurrence for him.
"What he means to say is, it's not about that. Not about trees and rivers – um, what did he say? Hey, Tsu! What's that word again?"
After completing that thought in one breath, he paused for a moment.
Immediately, Dragon King's rough vibe subdued, replaced by a more gentle aura.
Then, he let out a big sigh.
"'Reincarnation,' right, Wan. It's obvious you're being foolish."
"'Reincarnation', huh?"
He shook his head, seemingly not grasping the concept.
Seeing this, Dragon King chuckled, his demeanor reverting back to that of a typical boy.
"What I'm trying to say is, I think 'Reincarnators (we) are part of the natural phenomena.'"
"Are we too?"
"But doesn't it sound strange? Why do Reincarnators (we) even exist?"
"Well, there must be some reason for it, right? Like, 'to save the world' or something."
"──Shigi, could you possibly have been a middle school student in your past life?"
"I-I don't see any problem with that!?"
The giant man suddenly grew embarrassed, shouting in a flustered manner.
Seeing that, the dragon king burst out laughing.
"Ahaha! Shigi is so cute!"
"Wh-What do you mean──!?"
"N-No, I don't mean anything by it."
The dragon king hurriedly showed with a smile and gestures that he wasn't making fun of him.
However, he wiped the smile off his face and continued.
"You know, I don't think there's any special meaning to a Reincarnator being here. If I had to say, it's probably just like everyone else here, living again because it's 'normal'."
──But.
"It seems like the Holy Church won't think that way. ──So, we really need to understand each other."
──No matter what sacrifices we have to make.
──If we can finally understand each other, it will definitely be a 'happy ending,' right?"
