Volume 1 Chapter 14 ACT.13 The Reincarnator of the Wolf Beast (IV)
Rai immediately uses the momentum from his charge and slams into Reincarnator Kazuma with a shield bash.
Kazuma parries the attack with the rusty single-handed sword in his right hand, but the impact is too powerful, and he's forced to take a few steps back.
Seizing the opening, Rai continues to jab with his shield, looking for a bigger opening.
Though consumed by rage, Rai's mind is clear.
He knows full well.
If he just fights out of hate, he won't win.
That's why he holds onto his anger, maintains his composure,
and faithfully follows the basics he was taught, pressing the attack.
"Grrr──What!?"
Reincarnator Kazuma too, is unable to find an opening in Rai's relentless assault.
He's barely managing to block the attacks, and if he tries anything too aggressive, he'll be met with a swift counter.
──In other words, to defeat this young knight, he'll have to use his cheat (special ability).
Having made that decision, Reincarnator Kazuma leaps back, creating distance.
"I really didn't want to use this power..."
Kazuma holds the tip of his rusty sword against his left arm and, without hesitation, draws it across.
"──!?"
Rai is stunned by Kazuma's sudden act of self-harm.
But the true shock is yet to come.
Kazuma's blood splatters on the ground and begins to bubble violently.
It grows in size, taking on new bones and flesh, and before he knows it, 3 hideous artificial creatures, identical to the ones he'd been chasing moments ago, stand before him.
After binding his wound to stop the bleeding, Kazuma yells.
"Go!!"
At Kazuma's command, the creatures charge towards Rai.
"This...!"
Rai raises his shield to meet them, but they slip past it, surrounding him.
Another of the creatures, the one that had been chasing him first, joins the fray, and 4 artificial beings now encircle Rai, seeking an opening.
Rai raises his shield, scanning his surroundings.
──And then, it happened.
He hears a thud as something kicks the ground behind him, and Rai turns, raising his shield.
BANG!
The loud sound and impact hit the shield──he deflected the first surprise attack.
But it's not over yet.
The rule of beast hunting is not to just attack in a group, but to work together to secure the kill.
Because he defended against the first surprise attack, the new opening that inevitably formed, those guys won't miss it.
All at once, and with a time lag, they attack.
He parry the first one trying to bite his left leg with a swing of his right-hand sword.
When the second one jumped at his left arm, he blocked it by hitting its head with the pommel of his sword in an extension of the sword-swinging motion.
──But there is a limit to how many he can handle.
The third one bit hard into his left shoulder.
The armor is crushed, strongly compressing his shoulder.
"Damn!!"
He thrust his sword into the belly of the artificial creature biting his shoulder, pull it down with all his might, and slash it open.
However, even after dying, it still bites his shoulder and won't let go.
With his left shoulder strongly compressed and his arm losing strength, Rai can't hold the shield properly.
"Crap!"
The moment he put force into his right leg to jump away in a hurry.
"Not so fast!"
Kazuma throws his sword there, and it stabs into the ground at Rai's feet.
It doesn't do much damage.
Even if it hit, that rusty sword wouldn't pierce his foot.
──But that move definitely threw off Rai's timing for jumping away.
That instant gives the 3 monsters, who were intercepted by Rai, another chance to pursue.
Unable to hold the shield properly, his posture is also collapsing.
Those hideous beasts pounced on him in that situation.

Reincarnator Kazuma's ability is "the ability to create and control familiars from his flesh and blood."
The injured body to create them can only heal naturally, but once created, the familiars continue to exist until they are killed and do not require maintenance costs such as food, which makes him a pretty strong ability user, like "Eh, is the first enemy this guy?"
If left alone and producing familiars smoothly, it's going to be a pretty bad situation.
