Volume 3 Chapter 9 Let Me Go All Out, Won't You?

The girl hurled something stick-like at me again, but this time, I was the target.

She must have thought I was the biggest threat here and decided to prioritize taking me out.

But her aim was too straightforward.

She's probably going for vital spots like the eyes or heart; if it's poisoned, even a scratch could be fatal.

 This girl lacks battle experience.

 "Huff!"

 "Huh, no way!?"

I knock them away with my staff again, and the last one I skillfully bat back.

The flustered girl leaves an opening as she fumbles with her knife in her right hand, and I seize the chance to ready my staff and begin chanting.

"Magic, gather to me and pierce that person! 〈Lightning〉!"

"Magic, gather and turn into lightning to pierce that guy! 〈Lightning〉!"

Lene and I unleash our lightning magic without a moment's hesitation, perfectly aiming at the girl's chest ── but she's unharmed and, without skipping a beat, sends 3 sticks flying at us.

Calmly, I knock each one down accurately.

"...It's not working? Does she have something with an 〈Anti-Magic〉 effect?!"

 "Got it right this time!"

The girl drops her knife and starts making a complex seal with both hands.

If 〈Anti-Magic〉 is in effect, she shouldn't be able to use magic either, but what is she planning?

"Come forth, 〈Raiden〉! Burn those people to death with your thunder!"

The girl shouts into the void, and immediately afterward, a distortion in space appears before her.

And then, a few seconds later, a giant dude with a doorknob and 3-meter-tall, ash-brown skin appeared.

The giant with the harsh face was standing in a Niou stance, looking down on me.

 He's got this overwhelming presence.

 "He's even bigger than me!?"

 "That's some irrelevant info!?"

Aine was the one to chime in on my shock.

Geez, it was kind of fresh to look up to someone for once.

...Still, to summon without any magic power, and the name 'Raiden' that popped up... something about it seemed familiar.

Could it be that this girl is──

"...You, are you from the Sakura Empire like me?"

I locked eyes with Raiden and, while the girl was catching her breath, shouldered with exhaustion from the summoning, I tossed out the question.

She glared back at me, gasping for air through her fatigue.

But maybe because her true identity was exposed, there was a hint of anxiety in her eyes.

 "Wha..., then, what is it..."

The girl bit her lip and mustered the last of her strength to answer.

 Just as I thought.

That rod-shaped weapon and this eerie technique, I remember them from my homeland.

But why is a girl from Sakura, barely out of her teens, taking on a job as an assassin in Goldmont?

Her being here doesn't make sense, and what kind of circumstances could have washed her up from one end of the continent to the other?

"...But, this guy's not moving. Is he even alive?"

I don't know if this summoned beast has a concept of life and death... but the Raiden in front of me, continuing our glare-off, shows no sign of moving, and I furrowed my brow.

The girl said "burn him to death," but is the command not getting through?

"Wha..., Raiden, carry out... the order..."

 "...OOOOOOOOOH!"

 "Whoa!?"

 "Ryuuji!"

The girl, barely hanging on, summoned all her strength and ordered it to move, and suddenly, the creature named Raiden charged at me, swinging its staff to smack my head. I barely managed to dodge just in time by leaping back.

Even with the Magic Stone of Great Absolute, I had no idea if I could bounce back from such a hit.

After all, this thing was summoned without using any Magic Power.

It would be better to avoid unknown attacks altogether.

"Magic! Gather to me and pierce that one! Lightning!"

Once again, a jolt of electric magic connected Lene's wand with Raiden's chest.

It was great that she managed to catch it off guard with her shot, but this thing──

"Huh? It doesn't work on this side too!?"

With no damage done whatsoever, Lene stared in disbelief as Raiden lunged at me again.

However, I knew exactly why it wasn't working.

"Lene! Electric magic doesn't work on this thing! Try something else!"

 "O-Okay! Got it!"

 Right, I suddenly remembered.

What stood before me was a deity of lightning, worshiped only by Sakura.

It was probably a copy of what Adiliana had summoned long ago, but even so, to pull something with this much power had to be exhausting for the girl.

"I can't hold back against a god. I'm going all out now!"

With that, I tossed away my wand to gain the favor of the Magic Stone of Fyrel.

Now, with my bare hands, my power surged.

Alright, let's reset and go at it!
