Volume 1 Chapter 47 Merciless to Those Who Wield Its Evil Power
Five days after Guy gave us the order, in the evening.
The 4 of us arrived at the ruins of Orto village, which was just outside Sartzstadt.
"You made it."
Just as we expected, Guy and Marie were there.
Guy was looking down at us, and Marie seemed super uncomfortable.
"So it was you, Guy. But that's kind of surprising. I figured you'd hire like, ten or 20 bandits to ambush us."
I said that to get a rise out of him, but Guy just smirked and laughed.
What the heck?
That's creepy.
Gives me the chills.
"Come on, Guy, are you actually gonna do this?"
"What? Don't get chicken now, Marie. We need to kill him to get the rest of the money from Ferron, right?"
...Kill him?
Get money from Ferron?
So that means Ferron hired them to kill one of us?
...Nah, he called out my name, so I'm probably the target.
But I can't think of anyone who'd hate me enough to want me dead, besides maybe Guy.
"I-I can't do this! I can't help with this kind of thing!"
"Tsk... then you won't get the remaining 3 holy gold coins."
Guy tells her that, with a chilling look in his eyes.
I don't get why someone who's in debt can be so damn arrogant.
"I have a lot of questions, but I'll ask Marie later. First things first, let's get Guy under control."
I raised my staff and declared it boldly.
Minori and the others were all ready with their weapons too.
At this distance, we've got enough time to cast some magic.
Even if there's a magic barrier up, Minori's sword is still ready to strike.
"Ha! Don't get too cocky, Ryuuji. You can't beat me!"
"Remember how you lost so embarrassingly the other day?"
I tried to brush off his trash talk, but my words caught in my throat.
Guy suddenly closed the distance right in front of us.
"Ugh!?"
He kicked me hard in the gut, and I felt my hefty 220-pound body float for a moment, only to crash into the wall of an abandoned building a split second later.
"Ryuuji──Kya!?"
I hit the wall hard, gasping for breath, but Lene, who had just been roughly tossed aside by Guy, came rushing at me at breakneck speed.
I forced my aching body to move and caught her.
If I hadn't, she would've broken her neck.
"Oh, thank you!"
"Save the thanks for later. We need to deal with Guy first──"
Just as I was about to say more, we heard some groans coming from where we were earlier, and I quickly turned to look.
"...Minori! Suzu!"
"Hahahaha! Feels so good! This is what power's all about!"
I saw Guy with Minori in his right hand and Suzu in his left, lifting them up like it was nothing.
They were struggling to break free, but Guy didn't budge an inch.
No way, Suzu aside, but Minori is delivering precise shots to his weak spots!
"Guy, are you not using enchanter or something? Also, are you using a magic stone?"
My sisters are being strangled, and I calmly activated the magic stone.
This is an overly powerful destructive force that couldn't be used in the castle.
I need to train more, so I need a little time.
"Ah? It's different. I got a stronger enchantment power than Enchant magic, Ryuuji."
"...What?"
Stronger, enchantment power, huh?
I've never heard of such a thing.
As I'm confused, Guy grabs both of them and shakes his chest.
"If this pendant truly holds any of the 'magic crystal' power, I could become even stronger than when I wielded the magic stone! The forbidden magics are... truly magnificent!"
"...Forbidden magics?"
Guy's voice rose with excitement, a pleased grin spreading across his face.
...Did he just say *forbidden magics*?
The words lingered in the air, unsettling, like a curse waiting to be unleashed. This wasn't just any magic—this was the kind of power whispered about in legends. The power of the Evil God, Abnella's forbidden magic... Wasn't that the magic that carried the mark of divine slaughter?
"...Mr. Guy, don't you think that's a little too much?"
The voice that interrupted him was calm, but there was an unmistakable edge to it. Guy's head snapped toward the source of the voice, his smile faltering slightly.
"Huh!? Who's there—"
Standing beside him, someone cloaked in a long white robe stepped forward, their presence cutting through the tension like a knife.
"...Elmer's magician?" Guy muttered, his confusion clear.
"Yes, that's right," the figure replied, their tone cool and collected. "At that time, we couldn't... we couldn't allow such a thing. I am Ryuuji, the enchanter."
Ryuuji's words, though quiet, held an authority that seemed to make the very air around them still. The weight of what was unsaid lingered, and the storm that was about to break was palpable.
This magician, Ferron, acted like a clown, putting his hand on his chest and giving a super dramatic greeting.
What a jerk.
Like, he's seriously getting on my nerves.
"Ferron, huh? You think I'm gonna screw this up?"
"...No, no. But, since I've been asked so many questions, I have to kill everyone, including that girl. Dark Mages can't be allowed to see the light of day, you know."
...So, this guy is a Dark Mage.
Dark Mages worship Evil Gods and mess with people's lives──they're awful.
If they're confirmed, it'll cause an international incident.
They're basically a global threat.
I can't just let this slide.
"...Ugh, fine."
"Minori! SuzSuz!"
I can totally see the power building up in Guy's hands, Lene screams.
But, I'm not gonna let him get away with it.
I've had plenty of time to prepare.
"......Let go."
He probably thinks we're nothing.
Guy's totally open, so I unleashed the power of 'magic stone of Sigmund', one of the gifts.
