Volume 1 Chapter 27 The Task Was Successfully Completed Without Incident, and Then...

Minori carried the charred carcass of the golden bear to the guild while submitting her adventurer registration.

To prevent future attacks, the guild issued a warning.

As proof of the monster's defeat, I promised to deliver the Magic Core to Lady Cecil later.

I grumbled about having to carry it alone, but there was no choice—we had urgent matters to handle.

Still, with the highest quality <Magic Stone of Powerful Arms> equipped, Minori would manage. Probably.

Meanwhile, Lene and I got to work.

It was already past noon, but if we focused, we could finish refining this magic stone by evening.

"First, we roughly carve the <Stone of Nothingness> with that special knife, then move on to polishing."

"Yes, but before polishing, we apply heat using a catalyst. That's when it gains strength."

"That part's always weird to me. If it gains strength then, why polish at all?"

"Because without polishing, it won't reach full power. How strong it becomes depends on our cutting technique, including the final polish."

As I explained, Mr. Dietrich listened attentively.

He had requested explanations—politely, almost apologetically—but I welcomed the chance to showcase an enchanter's craft to the royal guards.

 Opportunities like this were rare.

"Is this the process of distillation? How does it work exactly?"

"When water boils, it turns to steam and rises. Cooling it turns it back into liquid, leaving behind impurities."

Lene, working in the same workshop, explained to a curious Lady Cecil.

"Lene, let me know before the potion is finished. The bottle still needs its enchantment."

 "Understood!"

Without looking up, she answered carefully, fully focused on her task.

I finished cutting the <Stone of Nothingness>, placed it on a heat-resistant dish along with the catalyst, and heated it with magic.

Mr. Dietrich watched in awe as nearby plants withered—the magic stone was absorbing power.

"Next, we shape it through preforming, then refine it using a special wheel. It'll take time, so please be patient."

"Oh... watching a craftsman at work is a privilege."

"Not at all. I'm still a novice."

Mr. Dietrich looked disappointed, but compared to a master gemcutter who once learned from 'Teacher' himself, I was just a child.

After finishing the preforming, we moved on to enchanting Lene's potion bottle while shaping and polishing the stone.

By dusk, as the sky burned red, the <Magic Stone of Dispelling> was complete.

"Pour in your Magic Power, and it activates. But be warned—you'll lose strength. Use it at Your Majesty's side. Ah, but after some time, you can use it again, so be careful."

"Understood. Any special instructions for the medicine?"

"No. Once opened, just take it orally. Mr. Ryuuji's hands will amplify its effects over time."

Dietrich carefully stored both the stone and the potion in his magic bag.

Wow. That thing was huge. And expensive.

As expected of a Royal Knight serving by His Highness's side.

"Thank you again. I'll send the rest of the payment later."

"I'll be waiting. But it's already late—why not stay the night? We'll depart tomorrow—"

 BANG!

 The front door slammed open.

Startled, I peeked into the hallway.

 "...Minori?"

 Minori stood there, pale-faced, breathless.

 Something was wrong.

She didn't say a word. Just walked up to me and handed over a letter.

The seal was from the Adventurer Guild in Sartzstadt.

Addressed to both Minori and me.

 I recognized the handwriting instantly.

 "...Suzu?"

 But it was shaky.

 Not like Suzu at all.

Her writing was always sharp—like a stamped seal.

 I pulled out the letter.

 Unfolded it.

 And froze.

The parchment was stained with tears.

 And blood.

 Scrawled hastily, only two words:

 Help me.
