Volume 6 Chapter 44-2 Sometimes What Others Say Resonates More Than What Family Says
Sebas, with a mischievous smile, remarked that thanks to this, a large employment of servants like him had come to be, which was a relief.
"The master mentioned, 'Victor's mansion embodies simplicity and strength.'"
As Sebas walked ahead, he glanced at Clarice and smiled.
"It's not just about size or appearance; it's about the heart that resides within. Those who understand will recognize that."
Following Sebas, Clarice slightly lowered her gaze and grasped the hem of her dress.
"Of course. I understand that for designers like Lady Clarice and Madame, appearance is also important."
Sebas stopped in front of the door leading to the courtyard they had previously passed through.
"Whether it's clothing or a home, there are people who wear them and live in them, and that's where their individual charm shines."
"...Thank you. I had forgotten that."
Clarice deeply bowed her head, and Sebas returned a somewhat troubled yet gentle smile.
"You reminded me of an important thing."
To the smiling Clarice, Sebas slowly pushed the door open, saying, "You have a lovely face."
As the soft sunlight flooded in, Randy and the others squinted slightly.
Their now accustomed eyes took in the flowers decorating the courtyard and the two ladies enjoying tea at its center.
"Have a good day."
Encouraging them to enter, Sebas gently bowed his head at the door's edge.
As Clarice walked proudly ahead of Sebas, Randy exchanged glances with Liz.
There was something undeniably resolute in her, reminiscent of a warrior's back.
(Both Keith and Mr. Sebas certainly aren't living long just for show.)
While Clarice was filled with joy from the collaboration with Madame, she was also somewhat scattered, but Sebas ensured her feet were firmly planted on the ground.
Not only that.
The back that showed consideration not just for herself but for everyone in Victor seemed small yet dependable to Randy.
Randy, with a smile directed at her back, gave a slight bow to Sebas.
"On behalf of my parents, I thank you."
"For what, may I ask?"
The bewildered Sebas received only a smile back from Randy as he followed after Clarice.
The design of the house and clothes.
They may seem unrelated, but they are not.
Clarice, after all, likely felt a bit anxious and wanted to stand tall.
They welcomed the legendary designer.
There are connections to noble families in the kingdom.
This is why she wanted to show off a little.
Randy believes this ambition led to the striking, meticulous dresses and renovations of the mansion.
Of course, if necessary, it would be better to renovate the mansion.
However, there is no need for renovations purely for show.
The current mansion is a one-of-a-kind space created by Victor's family and their servants.
This is undoubtedly true as well for the dresses and clothes Clarice will design in the future.
Of course, there will be people who buy dresses for the sake of appearance.
However, if that is the only motivator, they will never create something great.
It is only by crafting clothes and dresses that resonate with the wearer that one truly fulfills their duty as a designer.
This cannot be achieved without gratitude towards the people around them.
The ability to focus on design and the fact that they are standing here now is not solely due to Clarice's efforts.
Randy shares this truth as well.
Thus, he can only feel gratitude for being made aware of this.
In fact, Clarice, with her dignified approach, stepped confidently in front of Madame, showing a splendid curtsy while saying, "It is a pleasure to see you."
"I thought this little lady was quite spirited... but surprisingly, your feet seem to be planted firmly on the ground."
Clarice, straightening her back, nodded with an "Yes" to Madame's sly smile.
Madame's smile widened at Clarice's unwavering spirit, even dressed this way for the occasion, filled with joy.
"In just a day, this little lady has grown quite a bit. What kind of magic is this?"
Madame, smiling happily at Clarice, flashed a knowing grin at Randy, saying, "This certainly gives us something to look forward to."
"Of course. Who do you think her brother is?"
Randy returned the smile and presented the sewing box he had received from Liz to Madame.
"This is the promised item."
"Let me take a look inside."
"Sure."
The two of them smiling malevolently could easily be mistaken for a scene of antisocial dealing, depending on the place.
After confirming the contents of a box resembling a sewing box, Madame raised her face in satisfaction.
"No doubt about it. These are my sewing tools."
Madame closed the sewing box and stood up, saying, "It's a promise."
"Well then, Lady Flora. Thank you for your hospitality."
Madame, carrying the large sewing box on one shoulder, looked quite manly and stylish.
"I might get to see Madame's dresses again. I'm looking forward to having them altered."
As Flora elegantly stood up, Madame laughed heartily, assuring her that she was always welcome for rehabilitation.
It had been quite a few years since she had stepped back from the frontline.
It wouldn't be easy to restart business all of a sudden.
Of course, since the town was still under construction, Randy and the others were perfectly fine with it.
As Flora and Madame were exchanging farewells, Madame furrowed her brows as if she had just remembered something.
"Now then... what should I do with this house?"
"Why not keep it?" Clarice suggested, tilting her head. "You could use it as a vacation home."
Madame let out a hearty laugh. "That's a great idea!" she said, patting Clarice's head with a hearty laugh.
"And, speaking of the house, I remembered something. Is it all right if I go back to get something I forgot?"
There were things she hadn't brought when hiding at the Marquis' house, but now that she was going to Victor, she didn't know when she would return.
That was why she wanted to bring them along, and Flora opened her mouth with a worried expression.
"Shall I send an escort with you?"
"There's no need. It's the middle of the day. Besides, I'll just go quickly and come right back. Waiting for an escort would take too much time."
Madame laughed dryly and said, "I may be an old lady, but I'm still an adventurer," waving her hand carelessly as she left the courtyard on her own.
"Sebas"
"Make the arrangements immediately."
Sebas hurried to make the arrangements, but Liz grabbed Randy's sleeve.
Madame was being targeted by someone.
That was a fact they had just learned at a tea party before going to get the sewing box.
"Randy..."
"Leave it to me. I'll... wait, hold on."
The mischievous Randy patted Liz on the shoulder, saying, "There's someone perfect for the job."
"Let's quickly teleport to the new town. He should be there──the perfect old man yokai."
Liz, beaming back at Randy, agreed with a wide smile and promptly took him away with a teleportation spell.
Flora and Clarice, left behind, exchanged puzzled glances.
"Someone perfect for the job?"
"I'm not sure. However, Elder Brother referred to the new town and 'old man', so I think it might be Keith."
Clarice was talking about Keith, the elderly butler of Victor who also served as a mentor to Randy and the others.
"Someone perfect?"
"Who knows?"
The two, tilting their heads in confusion, would learn about Madame and Keith's past in about an hour.
