Volume 6 Chapter 35-2 There are Dungeons with Mysterious Rules in Games, Right?
"Let me ask you one thing. Have you ever seen the clothes I make?"
"No, I haven't."
Madame burst into a hearty laugh, "Hahaha," at Randy, who was standing tall and proud.
But her laughter quickly faded, replaced by a cold, piercing gaze aimed directly at him.
"How can you talk so big without even knowing my designs?"
The intense glare, filled with a murderous intent, showcased the fierce presence of a former adventurer... but for Randy, this level of hostility was within the realm of something he could anticipate.
"What difference does it make just looking at the clothes?"
Liz and Clarice widened their eyes in shock at Randy's dismissive attitude.
His comments, which could be seen as overly brazen, had definitely struck a nerve with Madame.
Indeed, her expression had turned completely blank, devoid of any emotion.
Yet, Randy didn't hold back.
"Your clothes only come to life when someone wears them, right? Or what? Are your garments somehow complete on their own?"
With furrowed brows and a rough tone, Randy kept his gaze on Madame while resting his hand on Clarice's head.
"The only designer I know said, 'It isn't done until someone wears it.'"
As Randy ruffled Clarice's hair, she puffed out her cheeks and swatted his hand away, saying, "P-please stop!"
"I'm not here just to look at you from the outside and say 'Wow.' Honestly, I don't have the confidence to grasp the greatness of your work just from your embellished garments or dresses."
Randy boldly admitted, "I don't understand beauty," and he didn't stop there.
"But I'm certain of one thing: those eyes of yours are those of a true craftsman. Deep down, I want your skill and passion. Your enthusiasm to make the wearer happy."
"That kid sure has some nerve."
Despite her tone, Madame seemed pleased, and Randy placed his hand on Liz's shoulder, saying, "You want to see this, don't you?"
"Liz and Ellie wearing the dresses you've made, which are said to be the best in the world."
"W-wait, what──"
Liz gazed up at Randy in a panic, and he flashed her a mischievous smile.
"By the way, I really want to see them."
Randy stood there proudly with his chest puffed out, while Liz blushed, drawing an incredulous smile from Madame.
She was clearly astonished.
The main reason for summoning the legendary items was simply that he wanted to dress up the girl he liked in the best dress possible.
"I'm surprised. If you've never seen these outfits or dresses, I thought for sure you were asking for my Rune or something."
With a sigh, Madame leaned on her hand and mentioned Victor's current situation. "I hear things are chaotic on your end?"
If a battle was approaching, having the abilities that Madame possessed would be incredibly desirable... There's bound to be plenty of people who feel that way, but...
"Nope. We've got enough Runes already."
As Randy shook his head, Madame, resting her chin on her hand, looked perplexed and asked, "You have enough?"
"Yeah. Just look at this..."
Lifting his tunic to reveal the undershirt, Randy explained the 'suppression' and 'Weight' Runes he had added to it, even increasing the Weight.
"By the way, I've given them to our Knights too."
Madame, who had almost slipped off her perch with surprise, chuckled dryly, "Ha, haha."
"So what we really want, is just the passion for design that Madame Valmoir possesses."
"Well, that's quite nice of you to say."
Madame smiled and nodded, saying, "I understand."
"I'd be willing to listen to your request, but there's one condition."
"Condition?"
Randy tilted his head, while Madame nodded and set one condition: he needed to retrieve her sealed sewing tools.
Randy didn't question why she needed sewing tools; he assumed they had some special significance or were particularly important to her.
"So, when you say 'retrieve it,' that means it's located somewhere far away, right?"
Madame smiled and tilted her teacup, confirming, "That's right."
"It's to the east of the kingdom... precisely at the eastern edge of Hartfield. There's a place called the [Cave of Saints] there."
"Hartfield?"
"Is this [Cave of Saint]?"
Almost simultaneously, the two of them pulled their faces in a grimace, and Madame raised an eyebrow, saying, "What's wrong?"
"No, this is about something else."
Randy shook his head, but in his mind, Catherine's meaningful "See you later" echoed.
(She knew all along... smart girl.)
Randy internally couldn't help but be impressed. As expected of someone with such solid game knowledge!
Catherine must have been confident that Randy and the others would convince Madame, so she said, "See you later."
And besides, the cave's name is [Cave of Saint]...
There's no way around it, Catherine's help is going to be needed.
But if they went straight to Catherine, there was no doubt she'd be smug about it.
Desperate for any lead, Randy opened his mouth.
"Madame. I don't look like a Saint, do I?"
Madame raised an eyebrow at Randy's questioning face, and threw a necklace from her chest.
"This belonged to a Saint I know. It should at least work as a key to open the entrance."
Madame laughed, adding that her sewing tools could weave Runes, and she had asked a Saint she knew to seal them.
(An acquaintance? A Saint?)
Randy felt a pang of curiosity, but now wasn't the time to delve into it, so he pushed the question aside.
"Okay. So, I should go to the cave, get the sealed sewing tools, right?"
"That's right. Just be careful──"
Madame made a sinister face and smirked.
"Only ladies can enter the cave."
"What a pain..."
Randy frowned dramatically, and Madame let out a hearty laugh, "Do your best!"
