Volume 6 Chapter 33 I'm Seriously Surprised That Her Family Is Rich

The place Liz teleported to was a spacious hall.

The ceiling was high, and the walls were pure white.

The lighting wasn't from a luxurious chandelier, but rather the gentle sunlight streaming in through a skylight.

The light shining through the stained glass-like windows sparkled brilliantly.

 It felt like being underwater.

In this space that evoked the sea, what really caught the eye was the enormous flag in the center.

Inside the shield was a depiction of a sea dragon.

It held a scale and an anchor in each hand.

"The scale represents fairness, and the anchor symbolizes an unwavering spirit."

Next to Randy, Liz proudly murmured, "It's our family crest."

 "...Sounds like Braubelg."

Randy muttered a foolish impression, still dazed, and Liz shyly thanked him with a "Thank you."

 "The flag is amazing, but..."

Randy's gaze wandered to the expensive imported furnishings arranged around.

Artworks from around the world were displayed, but their arrangement was modest to avoid overwhelming the space.

Moreover, there was a refined scent tickling Randy's nostrils.

(This faint fragrance... it's probably sandalwood, right?)

 A faint, exquisite scent.

It was a calming scent—soothing, even. But the fact that such a rare and expensive wood was used throughout an entire hall? That alone sent a chill down Randy's spine.

 "I'd heard the rumors, but..."

 "This is beyond incredible."

Even Victor's younger sister was visibly overwhelmed.

Liz, standing under the sunlight, turned back toward them with a welcoming smile.

 "Welcome to my home."

Clarice's face lit up, cheeks flushed with excitement.

 "Elder Sister, you're like a real-life princess!"

She practically bounced in place, starry-eyed.

"Hey, keep it down!" Randy snapped—though his own voice wavered just slightly, betraying his own disbelief.

After all, this overwhelming display of wealth and taste in the entrance hall was impressive.

The fact that the lady raised in such a castle was working as a civil servant in that rural shack was a heavy reality.

"It's okay... His Excellency has forgiven me..."

Randy tries to convince himself, but his heart is thump-thumping.

Though he tried his best to welcome Marquis and his wife, Victor, seeing this makes Randy and Alan's hospitality pale in comparison.

Of course, Lucian and Flora wouldn't mind such things.

But for Randy, a commoner, seeing the genuine nobility right before his eyes... it could be said to be a moment he's never experienced before.

(It was nothing like this even in the Royal Palace)

Randy looks around the hall again, but his thoughts are understandable.

After all, the Royal Palace is a place where he has no connection to.

Even if such a place is lavish and ornate, it feels like visiting a museum or a gallery.

 But this is different.

To put it bluntly, if he were to go to her house, it would be like the home of a wealthy Arab tycoon.

 Perhaps it was like that.

Randy, whose only experience is that of an ordinary person, can't help but feel intimidated.

Even though it's just the hall, Liz sees Randy's limited speech and gives him a troubled yet kind smile.

 "Is something wrong?"

 "No..."

Randy shakes his head, but seeing Liz's smile, he slaps his own cheeks inwardly, telling himself to be strong.

To be overwhelmed by this... if he couldn't even muster the courage to formally propose a courtship with Liz to Lucian and Cedric in the future.

So, Randy steeled himself, and then offered Liz a smile.

"It's so beautiful... it's like being under the sea."

Liz smiles happily at Randy's words.

 "That's right!"

Liz, who seems happy, continues, explaining that the entire mansion is built to evoke the ocean and ships.

 "Randy knows the sea?"

 "Well, yeah."

Randy nods, but while he has no experience in this life, in his past life, he went to the sea as often as anyone else.

"Victor only has rivers, but even the light in the river is similar."

 Clarice nods at Randy's words.

Since Victor borders a great river, swimming was a necessary skill.

As the 3 of them are engrossed in their conversation about water, a figure approaches from beyond the hall.

 "Milady. Welcome home."

The elderly man bowed respectfully, and Liz smiled, saying, "Sebas, you've been busy, haven't you?"

Although it hadn't been long since he had sent Cedric and Miranda here, there wasn't much time to spare, yet Sebas seemed to have an immeasurable aura.

"It's a pleasure to see you in good health."

 "Don't worry, I'm fine."

Showing a smile, Liz received another bow from Sebas before he spoke.

"Master is waiting. Please, do come this way──"

 Randy nodded at those words.

This time, it was Madame who had said "I want to see," but it was still proper to greet the master of the house first.

Led by Sebas, Randy and the others stepped into the corridor leading from the hall.

A long, pristine hallway stretched before them, its marble floors gleaming under the sunlight.

Scattered throughout were imported works of art—each piece radiating an air of wealth and refinement.

Randy had started to grow accustomed to such grandeur, but as they approached the end of the corridor, his gaze narrowed at the sight beyond.

 "This is—"

 "Incredible!"

Duo brother-sister Victor, their excitement reignited, let out an awed gasp.

What greeted them beyond the hallway's threshold was a bridge-like corridor that seemed to float in midair.

A palace of white stone, built atop a towering cliff.

And connecting its grand structures, a glass-walled walkway, where the sea breeze brushed past them, carrying the scent of salt and adventure.

 "So that's the sea"

Her voice rang with wonder as she looked out over the vast ocean below. Massive ships drifted across the waters, their sails billowing in the wind.

Above them, the ivory-white palace shimmered beneath the sunlight.

(Those gold accents on the walls... brass, maybe?)

Randy had half expected it to be gold, but on closer inspection, the golden frames and spheres adorning the structures had a distinct nautical aesthetic—reminiscent of a ship's décor.

Even the edges of the walkway they stood on were lined with the same material.

 Brass, then. A deliberate choice.

He took it all in—the sights, the scent of the sea, the distant murmur of waves crashing against the cliffside.

This entire place, down to the smallest details, was a masterpiece of design.

All he could do was let out a long, slow sigh.

"Um... is it okay for me to be dressed like this?"

Following the hall, Clarice, completely overwhelmed by the corridor, grabbed the hem of her remade dress.

"You'll be fine. In fact, you look stunning."

Randy patted Clarice's head, but he let out a sigh and dropped his shoulders, thinking, "The problem is me."
