Volume 2 Chapter 18 Stone Diviner Apprentice, Healing
A few days after the girls' night, Ms. Percella came to my mansion.
She was here to get a serious divination.
I thought we would start with that talk about the man, but Ms. Percella said she wanted another divination.
"How to overcome my shyness?"
"Yes. My mother says I was a terribly shy child since I was little."
"I see."
"So... I was hoping maybe Lady Elena's stone divination could reveal the cause of my shyness."
I hadn't done it before, but stone divination isn't only for romantic matters; perhaps the stones could tell us something.
It was worth a try.
"I believe Ms. Percella understands, but I'm still an apprentice in stone divination."
"Yes."
"That means there's a possibility it might not be accurate. Is that okay?"
"Of course."
Ms. Percella nodded seriously.
I would face this seriously as well.
"Alright then, let's give it a try."
I said that and began to draw a magic circle on the table.
Since we were searching for the cause, I drew a large magic circle that looks into the past.
What had happened to her when she was young?
Next to it, I drew a magic circle to see the present, but I didn't draw a magic circle for the future.
"Huh?"
As I rolled a stone over the magic circle, one stone flew out of the magic circle.
It's common for stones to roll out because they're rolled carelessly, after all.
However, this time it seemed different since it was shining with a hazy light even outside of the magic circle.
If that's the case, then that stone didn't just fly out for no reason.
The place it flew out to was outside the past's magic circle.
It was in the exact opposite position of the present's magic circle.
More past than the past... could this perhaps be a past life?
"Could it be a past life?"
I wondered if she had memories of a past life, like my mother and I did.
But since she looked utterly perplexed, it seemed that wasn't likely.
"Do I have a past life too!?"
I see, she doesn't seem to remember at all.
"It seems so."
Just then, I heard the voice of the stone.
It wanted her to hold the stone that leaped to a past life.
"Ms. Percella, please hold this stone."
"Okay."
I wrapped my hands around Ms. Percella's hands holding the stone.
The stone that Ms. Percella held had healing powers, which she probably needed.
"Huh..."
I heard Ms. Percella's small voice, and when I looked at her face, tears were running down her cheeks.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine, but..."
"Ms. Percella's shyness seems to be due to a small wound left on her soul."
Although she has no memories, it seems the wounds from her past life were too deep, lingering in her soul.
This manifests as shyness in this life.
The stone says this.
"In the past life, Ms. Percella seems to have suffered greatly from being betrayed by those she trusted. That's why she can't trust people, and why she's afraid."
At my words, Ms. Percella nodded slightly.
"People are... scary. I don't know about my past life, but I have vaguely thought that people are frightening."
"And that's why we met, to heal that."
As I said this softly, Ms. Percella tilted her head gently.
"I am on your side, Ms. Percella. It's not just me. Ms. Parsley, Ms. Natalia, Rolus, Rudger, Leve, and surely Mister Eliseo are all on your side. They will never betray you."
With a little more strength in my grip, large tears once again welled up in Ms. Percella's eyes.
"Lady Elena!"
It seemed the tears she shed moments ago flowed unconsciously, but this time it looked like she was crying normally.
"But, but I can't do anything without Lady Elena and the others."
"That's not true."
"I mean, I've just been sticking to Lady Elena and Ms. Parsley and haven't done anything..."
"That's not true at all. After all, it was you who called out to me that day, Ms. Percella, wasn't it?"
"So that was just imitating Ms. Parsley...!"
"Is it easy to imitate?"
At my question, Ms. Percella blinks rapidly.
And at the same time as those blinks, 2 tears fall.
"...I really gathered a lot of courage."
"Right?"
Ms. Parsley seems to have somewhat of an ambitious side, so I think it wasn't that difficult for her to approach me.
Well, she might have gathered some courage, though.
"If Ms. Percella hadn't mustered up the courage that time and had given up, we wouldn't have become this close."
Back then, I was also desperately trying to become a spiteful noblewoman, so I didn't have the luxury to make friends!
"I thought of myself as just a shy coward..."
