One day in the Demon Lord's realm.
There were guests at the castle.
"Zeke! Long time no see!"
"Elron, it's been a while."
Divine Dragon King Elron.
He's one of my friends.
"Papa!"
"Oh! Sia! How have you been──?"
Sia, the blue-haired young girl (a dragon in disguise), hugs her father, Elron.
"I've been well!"
"Good to hear! Are you living happily with Zeke?"
"We are!"
Hmm, they get along well, those 2.
"Oh right, Zeke. I've come here today because I have a favor to ask of you."
"Hmm? A favor?"
"Yes... I'd like you to make a house call."
A house call...?
Does that mean he's asking me, not as a king, but as a beast veterinarian?
"Sure thing!"
Even though I'm a king now, at heart, I'm a beast veterinarian.
I can't leave a suffering animal alone.
"Who's sick and where?"
"It's the first queen in the Divine Dragon Kingdom."
The Divine Dragon Kingdom... That's Elron's homeland, right?
Up in the sky.
The first queen... That means Elron's wife is in trouble.
"What's her condition?"
"It's not an illness. She's giving birth."
"Oh! A birth. That's a joyous occasion!"
Now that I think about it, Sia was born to Elron's 7th queen a while ago.
I remember at that time, the other queens didn't have children...
So, a baby's on the way, huh?
"It might be like the Frost Dragon's time. I want a beast veterinarian to be present."
"OK."
It's common for beast veterinarians to attend animal births.
There are lots of things to consider, especially postpartum.
"But there are other beast veterinarians, right? Like in our place, or Neroguma."
"I don't want anyone else but you, whom I trust, to enter my sacred sky realm."
Hmmm....
Well, okay.
I had nothing else to do at the moment anyway.
As long as Cino and Elaina (the daughter of the previous Demon Lord) are around, they should be able to manage things for the country.
"Alright, got it. Let's go."
"Oh! That's a relief. Then let's set off! To the Sky Fortress of the Dragon Kingdom!"
