Volume 5 Chapter 4
My name is Zeke Vetarinari.
I used to be just your average beast veterinarian...
I worked at the royal court, but one day, I was told it was pointless and got kicked out.
Guided by Haku, a Divine Beast I saved in the forest, I headed to the beastman country of Neroguma.
A lot happened there, and eventually, I became the second Demon Lord.
After all that, I found myself with the power of a god in my right hand, using it to heal various beings and send others flying.
...And now, I had a single problem on my hands.
The issue of marriage...
* * *
The day after Haku's mom asked me when I was getting married,
I was at a farm in the Demon Lord's territory.
"Hmmm..."
"Hey, what's up, Demon Lord?"
The old farmer at the ranch struck up a conversation with me.
He's someone I've known since my days as a court veterinarian in the Gaita-Niiga Kingdom.
When I have something on my mind, I leave the Demon Lord's castle and come here for check-ups.
After taking blood samples from the cows and confirming everyone's health, I took a breather.
"Well, I was just thinking about what to do about marriage."
"Oh wow...! Marriage! We definitely need to celebrate that!"
"Ah, no. It's still a ways off."
"But still, the Demon Lord must be getting up there in age, right?"
W-wait, getting up there in age...?
I'm still in my twenties!
"I got married in my teens, and farmers tend to marry pretty young!"
"R-really?"
"Absolutely. It's common to become an adult at 15 and get married right after. Honestly, a Demon Lord who isn't married by 20 is a bit behind the curve!"
N-no way!
Am I really... behind?
"So, are you thinking about getting married, or, you know, do you even *have* partner?"
Someone.
Well, yeah, kinda.
"Yeah."
"Ooh! What's she like!?"
"An earth dragon."
"E-earth dragon!?"
"A... sister."
"A sister!?"
Right now, it's those 2.
I don't dislike Chippy, or Cino, and...
Then, the farmer dude pats me on the shoulder, *thump*.
"Demon Lord, you should... really think about this. Marriage partner."
"Yeah... Wait, what's up, old man? You're sweating."
The old man pats my shoulder again, *thump, thump*.
"Nothing at all. But, marriage is for life, you know. Really think about what you're going to do."
He's got a point.
What should I do...
