Volume 5 Chapter 2 Floods and Landslides
One day at the end of summer.
On a day of heavy rain, I rode my wyvern into the mountainous area.
I'm in the beastman country of Neroguma.
It's a land rich in nature.
There's plenty of water and greenery.
However, because rivers flow everywhere, on days like this with heavy rain, flooding is common.
"Hey, are you okay!"
"Ah! Demon Lord!"
One of the demonkin spots me and calls out loudly.
Yes... I'm technically the Demon Lord now.
I took on the role after healing the previous Demon Lord, who was bedridden.
Now, I'm working to create a country where not just the demonkin, but also magic beasts and beastmen can all live happily together.
"Sorry, I'm late."
"No! Thank you, Demon Lord! It's over there!"
Led by the demonkin, I arrived at... a wide river.
The once gentle flow is now engulfed in a muddy torrent.
"Because of this heavy rain, the river has flooded, and the bridge has collapsed...!"
The bridge leading to the opposite bank is broken in the middle.
"And..."
"Help! Somebody help!"
A child is stranded in the middle of the river.
They're trembling on a pillar of earth created by magic.
"Even if we want to help, with this current..."
"Demon Lord, this is serious!"
Just then, a bird-like demonkin flew in from the sky.
"What's going on now?"
"There's been a landslide, and many people are trapped underneath!"
Flooding from the river and a landslide.
Bad things tend to happen all at once.
"Demon Lord, what should we do...!"
"It's okay. Leave it to me."
I climbed onto the back of my wyvern and ascended into the sky.
'Big bro! I'm counting on you! Show 'em the miracle of the gods!'
The wyvern's voice was filled with excitement.
They've been with me for a long time, so they probably understand what kind of power I have and what's about to happen.
"I'm not saying I'm a god or anything... but I'm gonna use this godly power to its fullest."
I raise my right hand high.
And... I activate my ability.
In that instant...
A blinding light erupts from my hand.
It's so bright, you might mistake it for the sun.
The blinding light erases the thick storm clouds.
Any part touched by the light returns to its proper form.
The sky, once covered in clouds, becomes a vast, empty blue.
The overflowing river returns to a calm flow.
And the mountains, once broken, regain their greenery, and the people who were crushed return to safety.
Everything touched by the light... returns.
'As expected! Big bro's Hand of God! Best healing magic in the world, ssuuuuu!'
"Every time I think it, this power is beyond healing magic, huh?"
But hey, that means a lot of people are saved because of this.
What the true nature of this power even is doesn't matter.
"""Wooo! As expected of the Demon Lord!"""
The child who was drowning in the river is saved, and the broken bridge is restored.
With this hand, everything can be returned to normal.
"It's crazy how safe this is..."
What is this power even...?
"...Well, whatever.
As long as I can see everyone smiling, that's all that matters to me.
