(Chippy's Side)
...the earth dragon Chippy was reminiscing about past events.
It was when Zeke was still young.
Zeke's father, Grisha, had fallen ill and was unable to move.
Zeke cared for him every day, but perhaps he was exhausted and fell asleep.
Zeke's father's bedroom.
Zeke was sleeping beside his father.
Chippy, seeing Zeke, covered his back with a blanket.
'Chippy...?'
'Gwa... '
Zeke's father, Grisha, called out to Chippy.
'What is it? Grisha'
Grisha Vetarinari.
That's Zeke's father's name.
Naturally, as a magic beast, my voice would not reach Grisha.
But our hearts were connected.
'Chippy... cough cough!'
'Wait, Grisha! Don't push yourself!'
Crying loudly, Chippy licked Grisha's cheek with his tongue.
For Chippy, Zeke and Grisha were his precious family.
'Chippy... I don't have much time left.'
'No, don't say that! Grisha! Don't give up! Zeke and Cino will be so lonely!'
Zeke and the others have no mother.
If Grisha dies, just as Chippy said, they would be left alone.
Grisha, with trembling hands, stroked Chippy's head.
'I'm sorry... I'm no good anymore. Chippy... protect my family...'
'Grisha...!!!!!!!!!'
...and Grisha Vetarinari took his last breath.
Since that day, Chippy had quietly vowed to protect the Vetarinari siblings.
Several years have passed since then.
Now, a great evil has invaded, targeting Zeke.
Now... here, what will I do if I don't use the life Zeke gave me?
I will protect my family...
