Volume 5 Chapter 12
We arrived at the Dragon Kingdom, Sky Fossia.
I began examining the wife of the Divine Dragon King, Elron—Lady Fire Dragon.
And then...
"Elron, the Fire Dragon... she's having trouble with her eggs."
"Just like with the Frost Dragon!"
Once the 7th queen, the Frost Dragon, had a difficult labor──essentially, her eggs were stuck.
This case seems similar, but...
"With the Fire Dragon, there are 2 eggs."
"What! Twins?"
"Yeah, it happens sometimes. It's a rare phenomenon, though."
There are 2 eggs inside her, and they're stuck.
As a result, the Fire Dragon is in a lot of pain.
"Ugh... Doctor, what should we do?"
"It's simple. Just like with Sia, we can remove the eggs directly."
When we extracted Sia's eggs from the Frost Dragon, we had to perform surgery.
But now... that won't be necessary.
I reach out towards the Fire Dragon and touch her belly.
"Can you trust me with your life?"
The Fire Dragon nods faintly at my words, groaning...
The pain must be intense; it's hard to even keep conscious.
For her children, she's entrusting her life to a stranger, and a human at that.
Then, as a beast veterinarian, I must live up to that trust and use all my strength to achieve the best possible outcome.
"Hand of God...!"
My right hand starts to glow.
My hand smoothly enters the Fire Dragon's belly.
"Your hand!? What's happening, Doctor!?"
"I'm repeatedly destroying and regenerating cells instantaneously."
It's the same principle as when I approached the Fire Dragon earlier.
First, I destroy the cells to create a hole.
Then I immediately heal it with restorative magic.
As a result, even with holes in the cells, the body's functions aren't impaired, and there's no pain.
And...
"There we go."
With a squelch, I extract the two eggs.
I activate the cells and heal the body's wounds...
"Whoa! Success! Amazing, incredible, Doctor!"
With a grip, Elron shakes my hand up and down.
"Thank you so much! Doctor...!"
"No big deal. I just did what I had to do. Anyway, the one who deserves praise is Fire Dragon."
I gently pat her belly.
"You endured a lot of pain. You didn't give up and really pushed through."
Even when the suffering became unbearable, she didn't resort to destroying the eggs by striking her abdomen.
It was because of a mother's love, protecting the child inside.
I thought to myself, "She's a pretty great mom, isn't she?"
