Volume 4 Chapter 34 The Dweller in the Abyss
From the depths beneath, a monstrous creature emerged, its massive form writhing as it spewed green and purple slime.
Ena winced, clutching her chest. "The miasma is thick... Brother."
I strengthened my holy barrier to shield Ena and the others. With a swift motion, I touched Ena's back, purging the poison from her body.
"Ah, thank you...."
Meanwhile, Chippy had already taken up a battle stance. "Zeke, that thing's dangerous!"
"Yeah, it's tainted again. Even the purified parts are corrupt."
The swamp creature's eyes glowed menacingly, its hostile gaze locked on us.
[AKAREAMOMO]
"Wh-what...? It's in my head!"
"It seems... this creature is intelligent."
The monster's eyes flickered again.
[ALAKOTSUATIKNEGUINAKUOFRANIOLISOMO]
"I can't understand it, but I know it's not good news."
The air around us grew thick with a suffocating pressure. "It's producing air pollution just by projecting its thoughts. If it weren't for me, you'd be dead."
A being capable of killing with mere words.
"Cino, Chippy, let's do this!"
I imbued Cino and Chippy with a barrier, focusing more magic on defense. Attack power would decrease, but we'd have to take it down together.
Chippy rushed forward at high speed, striking the monster's stomach with a punch. "No use! It's like hitting a wall!"
[ONOKUA KOTIETONARAMUSUT]
The monster's stomach expanded and expelled a flood of miasma all at once. I reinforced Chippy's barrier, pushing more magic into it to prevent the toxic onslaught.
"Cino, support!"
"Understanding, Brother."
In an instant, the swamp froze. Cino's magic immobilized the creature, and I ran across the ice toward it.
"Let's go, Chippy."
"Okay!"
I channeled sacred magic into my fist and joined Chippy as our combined strike hit the monster's body.
[Anazumu Adkoku]
Its reaction was unclear, but the creature was certainly underestimating us.
"Yeah!" Chippy delivered a powerful uppercut.
[Anakabuneira!?]
The swamp monster rose, enraged. I leaped into the air, bringing my fist down hard into its body. With a deafening crash, the creature collapsed, its massive form crumbling on the spot.
"Wow... you guys are amazing...!"
