Volume 4 Chapter 10 Sea Voyage
We were sailing southeast toward Kai-Pagos, the land of the dwarves.
The salty sea breeze, the gentle rocking of the ship—it had been a while.
"A sea voyage, huh? Been a long time."
Lately, I'd been traveling by flight or teleportation.
Boarding an actual ship like this felt almost nostalgic.
That said, I wasn't traveling to the dwarven country for a diplomatic mission or to provide aid.
This was a personal investigation.
It would be rude to just teleport in unannounced.
"Z-Zeke... is it going to sink?"
A trembling voice beside me.
I turned to see Chippy, clinging to my arm like a lifeline.
Her whole body was shaking.
"Hey, this ship won't sink, right?"
Having been born and raised as an earth dragon, she had never even seen the sea before, let alone traveled across it.
Poor thing.
I patted her head.
"It'll be fine."
"B-but what if we get attacked? Will it sink?!"
"The Ancestor Demon Lord's curse is gone. Monsters don't attack people anymore."
"Y-yeah... totally fine. Absolutely fine."
She wasn't convinced.
I sighed.
Meanwhile, my sister Cino stood nearby, watching with an unreadable expression.
...Actually, no. She was definitely annoyed.
With a forced smile, she crossed her arms.
"Why not let go for a bit?"
Chippy tightened her grip.
"No way. I'm scared."
"Then cling to the mast instead."
"No."
"Let. Go. Of. Brother."
"Nope!"
Chippy stuck out her tongue, smug.
Cino's temple twitched.
I sighed again.
"Cino. Your magic is leaking."
"Brother, move. I can't kill her if you're in the way."
"Please don't kill her..."
I had originally planned to travel alone.
But thanks to a certain Divine Dragon King's meddling, I was now stuck babysitting these two for the entire voyage.
Lucky me.
"Please limit physical contact," Cino huffed. "What if the reptile infects you?"
"He won't get infected! I'll bite you to death!"
"Please don't fight..."
I stared at the endless sea stretching before us.
I had a bad feeling about this trip.
