Volume 2 Chapter 79 Rie-tan's Ability (III)'
"Huh? I thought you'd push even harder..."
"Takeru-kun!"
That's when Rie-tan suddenly called out to me.
"Huh? Y-Yeah?!"
"I knew it... You're really strong, huh."
"Eh? Uh... I—"
As I rubbed the back of my head, struggling for a response, she tilted her head thoughtfully.
"Now that I think about it... Takeru-kun really is an Omega... I can feel it."
"...Rie-tan."
She said it with a soft smile. And then—
"There's one more thing I've been wondering about..."
"?"
"Is an Omega's strength... only this much?"
"! E-Er..."
While I was fumbling to answer, she added under her breath,
"You're slow to respond... so I guess it is like that... (muttering)"
"Eh? Wait, what...?"
Rie-tan mumbled something, but I couldn't quite catch it. However—
"Well then... let me try this out."
"Huh? Try what?"
Without another word, Rie-tan raised her right hand towards my face.
"...'Charm'!"
"Wait, noooooooo!?"
Suddenly, she activated the 'Mental Pollution' skill.
For a moment... my vision went pink, and my consciousness flickered.
But since the effect was almost identical to the 'Charm' from my own Advanced Darkness Attribute Magic, I managed to center myself and dispel it.
"...Phew."
"It worked... You really are strong. I can't affect you with 'Charm' at all."
Rie-tan's expression shifted to one of genuine surprise.
Like—hold up!!
"No, weren't skills supposed to be banned here?!"
I couldn't stop myself from yelling out a tsukkomi in pure frustration.
Then—
"Sorry, Takeru-kun! But you're so strong! I can't believe you just brushed off 'Charm' like it was nothing! Ahaha!"
And with a mischievous grin, Rie-tan stuck out her tongue.
"Tehepero!"
So. Damn. Cute.
"Y-you knew what you were doing, didn't you?!"
"Yep! Sorry! But... heh heh."
"W-what is it...?"
"Oh, nothing. It's just... the way Takeru-kun's talking right now... it's kind of Omega-like, isn't it?"
"......HUH?! S-sorry!"
I instantly snapped back to my usual polite tone.
But—
"No, don't apologize! Actually... I like this Takeru-kun better. It feels like we're closer. I'm happy, hehe."
"...!"
Nn, nnnngh...! 'Boyish Shota Rie-tan' is way too dangerous... Something inside me is definitely awakening!
"A-are you okay, Takeru-kun? You're looking kinda pale."
"Y-yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine. I still have my reason."
"...Reason? (tilts head)"
"GUHHH!!!"
"Kyaaa?! T-Takeru-kun!?"
The way Boyish Shota Rie-tan tilted her head was a critical hit straight to my unguarded weak spot.
The collapse of my reason is only a matter of time now.
Yep. The skill 'Mental Pollution: Charm' didn't work at all—
But I'm completely charmed by 'Boyish Shota Rie-tan.'
That's all, folks.
* * *
"Hmph. As expected of Takeru-kun," Kisaragi-san said, nodding in understanding.
"Indeed, Ojō's 'Mental Pollution: Charm' had no effect."
W-well... I was totally charmed in a different way, though.
"It's obvious it wouldn't work on me or Takeru," Sakurako-tan added smugly, puffing out her chest.
(She was clearly showing off.)
But beside her, Sagawa was staring wide-eyed.
"R-really?! It actually doesn't work on Takeru?!"
"Why are you so surprised?" I asked.
"Well, I mean... even after finding out that Takeru is Omega, I wasn't fully convinced until I saw it for myself."
"It's like they say—seeing is believing, huh?"
"...So does that mean you were affected by the 'Charm,' Sagawa?"
I asked, and he gave an awkward nod.
I couldn't help but press him.
"So... what's it feel like, being 'Charmed'?"
"...Ugh. I don't really want to say, but... when I'm 'Charmed,' it's like I'm completely obsessed with Amamiya. Like—'I'd do anything for Amamiya!'—that kind of feeling..."
He blushed as he said it.
And I was just about to tease him—"Hey, don't blush!"—when—
"W-what are you saying, Sagawa?! You shouldn't be blurting that stuff out here!"
Rie-tan suddenly turned bright red, scolding Sagawa.
"I-I didn't want to say it either!"
Sagawa fired back, equally flustered.
Watching the two of them, I let out a sigh.
Oh, right. These two were always like this—being all lovey-dovey.
For some reason, my heart ached a little.
Like I'd just dug my own grave.
Self-sabotage: Complete.
