Volume 2 Chapter 69 The Situation of the New Trans Potion (I)
"So, there's a connection between 'skill effects' and 'side effects'?"
Kisaragi-san casually drops the game-changing news. What does that even mean?
"Alright, before we dive into the chaos, let me break down what the 'New Trans Potion' actually is so we're all on the same page..."
With that, Kisaragi-san grabs a marker and starts scribbling on the whiteboard like she's about to explain the mysteries of the universe.

'What's Up With the New Trans Potion?!'
<Effects>
- 90% suppression of side effects
- If there are side effects → significant increase in physical abilities (3-10 times) and the acquisition of one skill (might get more than one; still under investigation)
- If there are no side effects → significant increase in physical abilities (3-10 times); still under investigation
<Problems>
- If there are no side effects, you only get the physical boost, no skills.
<Improvements>
- Successfully reduced side effects (no permanent effects, ego collapse eliminated... etc.)
──────────────────
"Well... that's the gist of it."
"Ooooh! (clap clap clap...)"
Honestly, I have to give it to her. This makes a lot more sense. It's like a recipe for success, but with a side of "uh, wait a second..."
So, we're looking at a potion that gives you a massive physical boost, no side effects... but, no skills unless there's a little side effect action. That's a decent trade-off, right?
But, of course, genius Kisaragi isn't done. She's just getting started.
"Now, there's still one 'rather tricky problem' I haven't mentioned yet... here it is."
She adds to the whiteboard like she's spelling out doom.
──────────────────
<Problems>
- If there are no side effects, you only get the physical boost, no skills.
- The trade-off between skill quality and side effect severity—basically, the worse the side effects, the more powerful the skill you get.
──────────────────
"Wait, so the side effects actually affect the skill's power?"
"Yep."
"What!? I've never heard of this even in the other world! Kisaragi, are you sure about this?"
"Yeah. Ran it through the AI simulator a couple of times. It checks out."
"No way..."
Silence.
Kisaragi-san's words hang in the air like the smell of burnt toast—unpleasant, but undeniably true.
So... if you want a powerful skill, you're gonna have to deal with some serious side effects. Simple, right?
"Alright, so what about the original Trans Potion from the other world? It wouldn't have this trade-off, right?"
"Nope. Pretty much the same thing. I mean, remember what happened to Sagawa-kun?"
"Ahh..."
Silence again.
Yeah, Sagawa's whole... "transformation" thing was a side effect of the other world's Trans Potion. So, maybe it's the same across the board.
But now we're getting into specifics. Thanks to Kisaragi-san's brilliant analysis, we've cracked the code on the Trans Potion's effects.
"But still, the old 'Trans Potion' only gave you a huge physical ability boost. So, if you take the new, side-effect-free version, you get a 90% chance of that same major boost with no downsides. And even if you do get a side effect, it's more like a temporary thing—like what happened with Sagawa. Plus, even a small side effect probably means you'll get a decent skill out of it..."
"Y-yeah, you're right! The OG Trans Potion was just about the physical boost!"
Silence.
I'm just watching Sakurako-tan and Kisaragi-san go back and forth, and my mind is doing cartwheels.
Kisaragi-san's right; the main effect—the massive physical upgrade—is way safer now. I mean, that alone's already a huge deal. But...
"...But how many Seekers can really hold their own against a Talking Monster just with a 'physical ability boost?'"
Cue dramatic realization.
"Oh...!"
Sakurako-tan's eyes light up, like she just figured out how to hack the Matrix.
"Heh heh, good job noticing, Takeru-kun. Well done."
"...Thanks."
Looks like I actually impressed Kisaragi-san for once.
