Volume 2 Chapter 64 Report from Magdala

Volume 2 Chapter 64 Report from Magdala

 ......Ryukyu Dungeon — 100th Floor

"Man... that was way tougher than I expected..."

Magdala let out a long sigh, slumping slightly as she muttered to herself.

Right now, she was standing at the deepest part of the Ryukyu Dungeon—the 100th Floor. Moments ago, she had used a Distortion Jump device to teleport here in an instant. It was a rare magic tool capable of bending space itself—one of her most valuable trump cards.

 And she needed it.

Because Omega was a whole different beast.

"That guy, Omega... He was way stronger than what that person said. Did they just underestimate him? Or did he get even stronger after returning to this world...?"

She frowned. That person had provided intel on Omega beforehand, but clearly, it was wrong—not that they'd admit it.

"Either way, I should report back..."

Magdala pulled out a communication device and activated it.

 "Magdala. What's the situation?"

'Ah—Yes! Just now, I encountered Omega and the Seekers on the 60th Floor. I engaged, but... I failed. I'm sorry.'

She bowed her head instinctively, even though that person couldn't see her.

"No need to apologize. You came back alive—that's enough."

'Huh—?! Ah, th-thank you very much!'

Caught completely off guard, Magdala felt her face heat up. She had been bracing for an absolute tongue-lashing, not... this.

"You called to report the situation, right?"

'Y-yes! That Omega... He was far stronger than expected!'

"...I see. So you're saying I gave you bad intel on Omega?"

'Eh—?! N-no, not at all! That's not what I meant!!'

A bead of sweat rolled down Magdala's temple as she frantically backpedaled.

 "Hah. Relax. I was joking."

 'Y-you...!'

Magdala sighed, resisting the urge to groan.

"But... I see. So Yuki Takeru is that strong."

'Yes. Honestly, if we Four Pillars want to take him down, we'd have to work together. He's at least that powerful.'

 "Hmm... I see."

 A silence followed.

Magdala didn't dare interrupt—she knew this was that person's thinking mode.

"...We've confirmed the target's abilities. That's enough for now. Return to base immediately."

 'Understood.'

 The call ended.

 Magdala exhaled, rubbing her temple.

"...Well, orders are orders. Guess I better head back."

Even as she moved, her mind still lingered on Omega.

Was this strength unexpected? Or... was some of that intel deliberately withheld?

She shook her head, shutting down the thought immediately.

'N-no! There's no way that person would do that. After all, they said we, the Talking Monster Executives of the Four Pillars, are special and precious!'

Even entertaining that doubt felt disloyal.

'Yes, that's right. To question that person would be disgraceful as a member of the Four Pillars.'

Pushing aside her lingering unease, she activated the Distortion Teleportation Device and vanished.

 ### A Certain Underground Facility — VIP Room

"...I see. So Yuki Takeru's strength remains intact, even after returning to this world."

Seated in an opulent VIP suite, Valtera, an upper minister of the Demon Lord Army, swirled a glass of wine in one hand. His expression was unreadable as he pondered Magdala's report.

"This is troublesome. I was hoping his return had weakened him... but no, he's just as much of a threat as before."

He let out a small sigh, furrowing his brows.

"...I suppose I'll have to plan his subjugation properly."

Despite the grim statement, his tone lacked urgency. Instead, he smirked, raising his glass.

"Still, the people of this world... these 'Seekers'—their strength is laughable, but they make excellent additions to my Talking Monster Collection."

 He took a slow sip.

"Perhaps it's time to start gathering a few new 'specimens'."

Setting the glass down, Valtera's smile widened.

"And I should have False Lord make her move soon, too..."

A chuckle rumbled from his throat.

"Once, she was cold and ruthless. But after Demon Lord VEGA died, she became nothing more than a vengeful puppet. And now? She moves exactly as I intended."

He took another sip, savoring the moment.

"Heh. False Lord—Empress Mare and the Four Pillars will launch an all-out attack on the Ikebukuro Dungeon's 10th Floor Lowest Level."

He leaned back in his chair.

"Even if it's Yuki Takeru, he can't possibly win against Empress Mare and all of the Four Pillars at once."

A knowing smirk curled his lips.

"After all, their combined strength rivals Empress Mare and myself in our prime."

Draining the rest of his wine, Valtera set the glass aside.

"...Then, shall we begin Round Two, Yuki Takeru?"
