Volume 2 Chapter 40 Deserted Dungeon Raid Squad (II)

Ryukyu Dungeon – 29th Floor
Deepest Part of the Middle Floors
"Heave-ho!"
"One, two, three!"
THUD. SMASH!
THUD. SMASH!
THUD. SMASH!
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
If you were wondering what the soundtrack to a slaughterhouse sounds like, well, wonder no more! Because right now, the Atago Twins—Rinna and Rinne—are putting on a live performance. These two tiny terror twins, who barely look old enough for middle school, are absolutely wrecking everything in their path.
Rinna's got a gigantic hammer—basically a metal pancake maker for monster skulls.
Rinne's wielding a giant cleaver—think 'medieval butcher shop' but twice her height.
And together? They're turning this dungeon into a fine red mist.
THUD. SMASH!
"Big sis, that's 11!"
SLASH!
"Rinne just got 11 too!"
Rinna, as the 'older' twin, is using her Bludgeoning Hammer to absolutely dominate the competition. Naturally, Rinne refuses to lose, swinging her Tearing Cleaver like a pint-sized executioner. And thus, their eternal sibling rivalry continues—except instead of arguing over TV remote privileges, it's a high-speed monster massacre.
This perfect blend of "adorable" and "nightmare-inducing" has made them an instant fan favorite. Chat's already flooded with their infamous nicknames:
- Bludgeoning Loli
- Tearing Loli

: Rinne is today's MVP, I swear.
: I think you mean Rinna.
: No, I mean Rinne.
: Rinna supremacy!
: Debate all you want, but the real winner is US, the viewers.
: FACTS.
: Anyway, can we talk about the insane monster variety in this dungeon??
: Yeah, why's there a 3-meter-long hermit crab??
: And giant mongooses??
: Oh, and big bats. Can't forget the bats.
: Are bats common in Okinawa?
: As a native Okinawan, I can confirm: Yes. Bats exist.
: Thanks for this groundbreaking information.
: Yeah, yeah, who cares?! More importantly, RINNA AND RINNE BERSERKER MODE IS SO CUTE!!!
: Bro, I was ABOUT to say something, but now I can't even argue with that.
: EHHH... (thump-thump)
: ↑ What's with this dude getting all flustered? LOL
: Someone screenshot that guy. We got a new meme.

"Whew! Rinna and Rinne are on fire today!"
Tomochii, the team's official mood-maker, casually throws out a compliment while launching an Earth Magic: Stone Barrage at a swarm of bat monsters. Rocks the size of soccer balls rain from the sky, turning the battlefield into a DIY cave-in.
──────────
: TOMOCHII GANG RISE UP!
: Been a Tomochii fan since Day 1.
: SAME.
: Honestly, lifting the team's energy like this is an underrated skill.
: True.
: Managing the vibes of an entire squad? High-level difficulty.
: High-difficulty quest. LOL
: And THAT'S why longtime fans love Tomochii.
: Agreed!
: Now let's all spam "We Stan Tomochii."
: WE STAN TOMOCHII.
: WE STAN TOMOCHII.
: WE STAN TOMOCHII.

While chat is busy rallying behind their faves, up at the front line stands the squad's leader—Daisuke Ochi.
He's wielding the Decapitation Sword: Orochi, a 1.5-meter-long greatsword forged from some mysterious material. (The kind of mystery that probably involves screaming and ancient curses.)
"Hah...!"
With a single swing, Ochi slices through a horde of giant mangrove creatures. The blade moves too fast—almost like it's alive.
And then—
"HE-GYAAAAH!!!"
BUSH!
Ten mangrove heads go flying.
──────────
: As expected of Ochi.
: As expected of Ochi.
: The man, the myth, the babysitter of this squad.
: Literally holding this group together with duct tape and stress.
: Kuro-hi○ Close Call.
: Kuro○ge Close Call.
: ↑ The censoring is different, so it’s totally obvious lol.
: Intentional, I see.
: No, but his greatsword IS insane.
: Dude's basically S-Class already.
: True, but his real skill? Managing the chaos twins.
: Totally agree.
: Totally agree.

"Alright... finally made it."
The squad reaches the Middle Floor Boss Room—29th Floor.
"We'll take the first fight!"
"We'll take the first fight!"
"NO, YOU WON'T!"
Tomochii jumps in, panicked. "If we let you two go berserker mode, we'll have NOTHING LEFT TO FIGHT!"
"Hehe, don't worry, Tomochii! We can just sit back and—huh?"
Something's standing in front of the boss room door.
"...Is that a person? No, wait... a humanoid monster?!"
The squad freezes. This is not normal.
Then, suddenly—
"Are you... human?"
It spoke.
"EH?!"
"The monster can TALK?!"
"A talking monster?!"
The team stares in shock as the creature stands before them, completely expressionless.
And then—
"Humans, huh? I could smell it. So... I'll kill you all."
"Huh?"
"Did that thing just say it's gonna kill us?"
"Uh, guys? Look at its arms—"
SWISH!
"...Huh?"
THUD.
Something hits the ground.
It takes them a second to process.
Then Rinne screams.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
"RINNEEEEEEE!!!"
Her left arm lies on the dungeon floor.
And just like that, the 'Deserted Dungeon Raid Squad' gets its first brutal wake-up call from the Talking Monster.
