Volume 2 Chapter 34 Talking Monster Appears

Volume 2 Chapter 34 Talking Monster Appears

 "Hayabusa Slash!"

 "Power Chain Attack!"

 "Gusty Gale!"

 "Nagisa-chan, hold still—Heal!"

We had officially reached the 8th floor of Ryukyu Dungeon's Upper Floors, and so far, things were running like a well-oiled machine.

The main fighters? The Valkyrie squad—a team of four highly skilled adventurers.

Me? I was on backup duty alongside Carlos-san, aka Just a Bit Strong-san, ready to jump in if things got dicey.

And by dicey, I mean if a Talking Monster appeared.

If not? The Valkyries could wipe the floor with these monsters all day.

In fact, since arriving, they'd each leveled up twice just from sheer grinding.

That was the whole plan—level them up and prep for tougher fights ahead. So far? Mission accomplished.

"At this pace, we could blitz straight to the Floor Boss—assuming no Talking Monsters show up."

"Oh, wow, Omega, so casual with the foreshadowing."

"Huh? What foreshadowing? Ha ha, don't be ridiculous."

 "Uh-huh. That's what they call Omega-quality storytelling."

For some reason, Carlos-san nodded approvingly. I still don't get him.

 While we were chatting—

 "YES! TOTAL VICTORY!"

 """""WOOHOO!"""""

SMACK!

The Valkyries high-fived like they'd just won the championship.

Yeah, no injuries, no struggle—this was going great.

I had to admit, seeing them in action for the first time was seriously impressive.

 - Yuki-san, the heavy-hitter, used Strong Arm Barrage, a skill that multiplied her physical strength fivefold—and it showed. She crushed rock hermit crabs faster than anyone back on the first floor.

 - Nagisa-san wielded Storm Child, which gave her enhanced wind-based attacks. Every time she used Gusty Gale, monsters got blasted like they were caught in a tornado.

 - Ayumi-san, the team's leader, fought with precision, cutting down enemies effortlessly using Hayabusa Slash—a skill that was as fast as it sounded.

 - Kotono-san, the squad's support, had Blessing Angel. It wasn't just a healer skill—it also boosted teammates and weakened enemies. Honestly? If she unlocked some offensive spells in the future, she could be the most broken one in the group.

Watching them, it was clear—they had crazy potential.

If they kept leveling up, they could easily dominate C-rank and beyond.

* * *

 ......Ryukyu Dungeon – 9th Floor

"Damn! I didn't realize you guys were this strong!"

 "N-no way!"

 "We're not that amazing!"

"No need to be humble. You're all C-rank, right?"

 "Y-yeah..."

Carlos-san folded his arms, nodding. "Honestly? You've got the skills to be top-tier C-rank."

 """""H-HUH!?!?!?"""""

"If you keep this up, no doubt you'll hit upper C-rank soon. I'll even write a recommendation letter for the Guild when we get back to Tokyo."

 """"THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!""""

The Valkyries looked like they were about to cry.

Just yesterday, they were complaining about this "strong old dude" at the airport—now they were completely won over.

But before we could celebrate too much—

"Alright! It's finally time for the Floor Boss!"

I turned to Carlos-san. "What kind of monster are we looking at?"

"The Giant Palm Crab—a massive palm crab."

Wait... that's it? That's just... the literal description?

"Three times bigger than the rock hermit crabs on the first floor. Crunchy, tasty meat, too."

 "Hold up—you've EATEN it?!"

"Of course. When I do dungeon runs, I stay for weeks, so I hunt for food."

I knew dungeon monsters were technically edible, but I hadn't tried any yet.

Maybe I should do a livestream where I try dungeon food next time?

 "Uh, guys..."

 I turned. Kotono-san was pointing ahead—at a shadowy figure.

 And then—

"I will kill you humans!"

 ...Oh crap.

 "Carlos-san!"

His face went pale. "No way... The Floor Boss turned into a Talking Monster!?"

According to him, the Giant Palm Crab used to be a normal dungeon boss.

But this? This was not normal.

"A Talking Monster...? Up here in the Upper Floors?" Carlos-san muttered. "Something's not right about this dungeon..."

 "Not right how?"

He hesitated. "Dungeon monsters don't usually leave the dungeon. But Talking Monsters... They aren't natural dungeon creatures. If they're showing up here, then maybe..."

 "Maybe... they're trying to escape?"

 His face stiffened. "...Ah."

 "Wait, WHAT?!"

 "No way..."

It was a terrifying thought. Talking Monsters were different from regular dungeon creatures.

And now, one was standing right in front of us.

"Either way," Carlos-san said, cracking his knuckles, "we need to handle this now."

 I nodded. "Agreed."

He signaled the Valkyries to fall back.

 Then, he turned to me.

 "Omega... want to team up?"

 I grinned. "Hell yeah!"

 We bumped fists.

 And then—

"Omega... are you Omega?"

The Talking Monster was staring straight at me.

 "Yeah, that's me."

"I see. Got it."

 "Got what?"

"You must die."

 "WHAT?!"

 The next second—

The Talking Monster was already in my face.
