Volume 2 Chapter 32 Current Situation and Issues of Ryukyu dungeon

"...Wait, did you... did you actually conquer the Ryukyu Dungeon?"

 "Yep. Totally did."

I stood there, jaw practically on the floor. THIS quirky old man? The one who looks like he lives off convenience store yakisoba and sheer confidence? HE was the one who cleared the dungeon?

"You know... Omega-san, Carlos Strong-san is an S-class ranker, and to put it simply, he's one of the top three Seekers in Japan."

 Ayumi said matter-of-factly.

"Wait, what? Are we talking about the same guy?" I gestured at Carlos-san, who was currently trying to flick a mosquito off his arm with the precision of someone who'd fought gods.

"Absolutely. By the way, he's as strong as Sakurako-sama."

 Yuki-san added, smiling.

 "Wha—EXCUSE ME!?"

Sakurako-chan has literal magic. Real, powerful, world-breaking magic. This dude is just some old guy who looks like he argues with cashiers about discount coupons! But if he's on the same level as her... then what kind of overpowered nonsense is he hiding?

I narrowed my eyes at him. "I gotta see this guy in action..."

"By the way. Who's the strongest among the top three?"

The air got weirdly tense at my question. Everyone instinctively turned to Carlos-san, as if waiting for a prophecy.

"Hmmmm... hard to say. I've sparred with Sakurako, but never gone all out. Felt like she was holding something back, though."

 "Holding back? Like, how?"

"Like a 'trump card.' Not just playing around—more like she's got something up her sleeve that she's not showing anyone."

 "So...?"

"If I had to bet, it's a 50-50 shot if I can take her down."

 he shrugged.

 """""..."""""

Great. Very reassuring. Love that for us.

 ---

After some light existential dread, we finally arrived at the Ryukyu Dungeon.

 "So this is it..."

The dungeon entrance was at the Katsuren Castle Ruins, a historic site from the Ryukyu Kingdom era. The place had major 'ancient legend' vibes. Like if you touched the wrong rock, a ghost would show up and give you unsolicited life advice.

"Before we head in, let's check out the top of the ruins."

Carlos-san said, already leading the way.

I was about to complain, but then we reached the top.

 "Whoa."

The view was unreal—Okinawa's coast stretching out into an endless expanse of emerald green ocean. The kind of scenery that makes you rethink your life choices and consider becoming a travel blogger.

 "This... is amazing!"

"Okinawa's sea is really something else."

Yuki-san said, looking just as awestruck.

 "Right? It's the best!"

 "Feels great!"

After soaking in the scenery (and resisting the urge to dramatically declare myself King of the Castle), it was finally time to enter the dungeon.

 ---

"Wow, so this is the entrance..."

The dungeon wasn't some mystical gate or creepy cave. Nope. It was just... a big ol' hole. A massive, perfectly round hole. Like someone took a giant cookie cutter to the earth.

"Did someone carve this out?" I asked, squinting at the suspiciously perfect geometry.

"Nope. It just showed up when the dungeon appeared."

 Carlos-san explained.

A hole over 50 meters deep, appearing out of nowhere? Totally normal. No further questions.

"By the way, the Okinawa Guild is in that building over there."

 Carlos-san pointed to a five-story structure.

I took one look at the ground floor and frowned. "Uh... is that a souvenir shop?"

"Yep. Originally, this place was just a souvenir shop for Katsuren Castle. But when the dungeon popped up and they needed a guild, the locals insisted on keeping the shop. So they turned the second to fifth floors into the guild and left the first floor as it is."

 "Wow. Priorities."

"But it's kind of nice, right? A guild that feels connected to the community."

 Yuki-san said.

"Yeah, yeah, gives off a 'mom-and-pop adventurer hub' kinda vibe."

 Nagisa-san added.

 Carlos-san, however, suddenly looked serious.

"Unfortunately, both tourists and Seekers have been avoiding this place lately..."

 "The Talking Monsters, huh?"

 "Yeah."

I crossed my arms, thinking. These Talking Monsters really were bad for business. And if business is bad, that means fewer people to buy those cute Okinawa keychains downstairs. Truly tragic.

"Well. Since you guys are only here for a week, it'd be great if we could thin out their numbers while we're at it."

 Carlos-san said.

Hmm. My main goal was leveling up the Valkyrie unit and myself, but honestly? I wouldn't mind a few tough fights along the way.

With that, my adventurer instincts kicked in.

 "Alright then..." I grinned.
