Volume 11 Chapter 6 Saint Lydia's Job II
As soon as I enter the Great Temple, my father rushes over.
This father is my real father.
The puppy is my dad.
It's a bit complicated, but I have 2 fathers: Father and Dad.
"Lyd-Lyd! You came! Father has been waiting for you!"
"Hello, Father"
"Today, there are no puppies... well, that's fine. Sir Arjuna is a holy beast. And he is a distant ancestor of the Rest Priest Family. I understand I should respect him, but I feel the need to compete for the position of father someday."
"Please don't fight, Father. Dad thinks he is a cute puppy who loves grilled chicken. He is cute, though. The puppy is cute..."
At first, some people were surprised by my father, the Head Priest, who looks forever young and handsome while hugging me tightly, but now everyone seems used to it and gives him warm smiles.
"Ciel is here with you today, huh?"
"It's been a while, Head Priest"
"Ciel. How is living together with Lydia... let's clarify what kind of relationship you two have."
"Well, yes... how should I put it?"
"We are friends."
"For now, at least."
Father pokes Ciel's chest, who is speaking ambiguously.
"Ciel, you look slim, but you actually have a solid chest...!? What, it's really hard! Ouch!"
"F-Father, that's rude..."
"Thank you, Head Priest. According to Saintwise's policy, I always practice hand-to-hand combat so I can fight even when my magic runs out. I can't show you the hard parts, but I have jewels. I'm part of the Gem's People."
Sir Ciel answers with a smile.
Until now, Sir Ciel was worried about having half Gem's People blood, but it seems he has stopped worrying after some twists and turns.
I wonder if he has come to terms with it.
I feel like you're being a bit too defensive.
"You have gems, don't you?"
"Would you like to see them, Ms. Lydia?"
"N-no, um, that would be troubling..."
Seeing the gem-studded tongue made me panic.
The sight of the Mysterious Demon King left the women in the Temple fainting, saying, "Oh my!" and "How sinful...!"
Yeah.
I understand their feelings.
It does feel a bit sinful.
"Ciel, was that your personality?"
"Well, yes. I think I've become a bit more lively thanks to Ms. Lydia."
"That's good to hear, but how far have you two gone... have you kissed... held hands!?"
"If fried fish counts as a kiss..."
"Wow! Ah! Pumpkin pudding!!!"
"Pumpkin pudding! Pumpkin!"
"Shiratama Anmitsu! Tama!"
When I made a fuss, Eir-Eir and Med were delighted.
It felt like they were cheering me on.
"My lady... what a wonderful sight you are showing us...!"
"This is exciting...!"
"Tonight's maid meeting is going to be quite lively...!"
The maids lined up behind my father are holding hands and celebrating.
I wonder what's happening.
Or rather, what was I here for again?
"Lyd-Lyd. You came for work, right? You shouldn't keep the believers waiting. Ciel, I'm sorry. This person gets all excited when it comes to Lyd-Lyd."
"No, it's fine. It's natural for me to have questions about Ms. Lydia."
"Ciel is always so polite. Thank you for everything you do for Lyd-Lyd."
"Mother, Sir Ciel always takes care of me. He even says I don't have to pay rent."
"That's good to hear. I wonder if Lucian and Roxas are doing well."
"Yes, everyone is doing well."
"I see. That's good. I can leave Lyd-Lyd to you."
Mother, who looks forever young (she's really young, probably around 20 because of being eaten by Ms. Famine), comes over and reaches out to me.
I headed to the altar of the Great Temple's big chapel with Mother, Father, and Sir Ciel.
On Saturdays, Father declared it a day of prayer for Alexandria.
Only on this day, I perform charity at the Great Temple.
Through battles with the daughters of witches and witches themselves, I learned to use my power properly.
I can put power into my cooking and even create the dishes themselves.
I can summon the goddess's kitchen, but that's only in special cases.
According to Father, I don't need to put my healing power into cooking.
For me, magic just takes shape easily in the form of cooking.
"Thank you for waiting. Now, I will perform the healing charity by Saint Lydia. Everyone, please bring your jars and line up here."
Father's solemn voice echoed, and the line began to move.
I held my hand over the jars that people offered in front of me.
Then──the jars filled with colorful candy.
These are magic candies that have healing power.
Eating one will cure sickness, injuries, and curses.
My new job is to distribute these healing candies to everyone.
Depending on my mood, they can turn into hard candies or jelly beans.
In any case, I continued to shape my healing power into easy-to-eat and long-lasting sweets to share with everyone.
