Chapter 423-2 I'm Not Angry
"It seems that even Father will be let in on the secret."
As soon as everyone gathered in the office, Edward spoke up with a hint of sarcasm. Then Sara said.
"It's as if Uncle has known for quite some time, isn't it? I think a day's delay is just a minor detail. Also, there's more news on this matter."
"Are you still planning to surprise us?"
"Please don't make such a grim face. It's likely good news."
"When you say it, I can only feel anxious."
Edward began to smooth the furrow in his brow with his fingertips.
However, Robert, sitting next to him, wore a bright expression as he gazed at Sara.
"Sara, I still haven't seen your teleportation magic. You showed it last night, right? Show me too!"
Unlike Edward, Robert leaned forward towards Sara with sparkling eyes like a child.
"I'll show you now, but it's not exactly teleportation magic."
"What do you mean?"
"Do you know about the 'spatial storage' magic, Father?"
"I know Sara uses it. It must be filled with plenty of wheat from the Grandchester territory, right?"
"That's correct."
"But I don't know anyone else who can use it. I've heard at the Academy that it's a rare, non-attribute magic mentioned in old texts. If a magician who can use spatial storage appears, it would surely cause a scramble among merchants."
"It may be attractive to merchants, but I think it would be even more sought after by knights or the military."
Sara felt a twinge of cynicism.
"Well, that's true. Therefore, Sara's ability must be kept hidden. A magician who can use storage magic is precious. If things go poorly, Sara could end up being dragged to the battlefield."
"What? She's still a young noble lady!?"
"If pressed under the guise of national interest, few nobles would be able to refuse. There would also be pressure from other noble families. If things go wrong, Grandchester could be accused of treason."
"No way..."
At Marquis Grandchester's remark, Robert let out a voice filled with despair.
However, for Sara, who possesses many dangerous abilities and secrets beyond spatial magic, this was hardly surprising.
"Please don't be surprised by such trivial matters now. In any case, it's certain that spatial storage is effective magic. After all, it's a space from which you can take out and put in items from anywhere. In fact, movement magic also utilizes this spatial magic."
"Huh!?"
"To put it simply, I'm creating an entrance and an exit in a space made by magic."
"Um... so, it's like connecting the entrance here and the exit to Grandchester territory?"
"Exactly. As long as it's a location I can identify, I can set the entrance and exit, and then it's just a matter of passing through the spatial storage."
Sara opened a space to move to Marquis Grandchester's office in the main residence of Grandchester Castle and beckoned towards the Royal Capital residence.
People began to stream through the spatial storage into Grandchester Castle upon seeing that.
"Wow! This is amazing. But it's cold."
"Since my grandfather has been absent for days, the fireplace likely hasn't been lit."
Chloe calmly spoke to the shivering Marquis Grandchester.
Yet, Edward looked at her with a resentful gaze.
"Father, don't you think this is a very convenient magic? Yet, Sara and Chloe didn't tell me, and even while moving to the Royal Capital, they kept returning to Grandchester territory to take baths. If they had taken me along, I could have slept in a soft bed at night."
"If you tell your father, you can't hide it from the servants and knights nearby."
"But, couldn't they have told us? You know that long-distance travel is a significant burden for women."
Elizabeth also agreed with Edward.
"It's Sara who is using the magic. It's up to her to decide who to teach, so please don't hold it against me."
"We don't resent Chloe; we're just envious of her. But I'm glad she seems to have gotten close to Sara."
Rebecca spoke to Chloe with a smile.
Sara took up Rebecca's comment with an amused expression.
"So, does this mean I'm being resented?"
"If it's not me, then it must be Sara."
Chloe nodded with a nice smile in response to Sara's question.
Their demeanor certainly suggested they were close cousins.
The adults, who knew of their past as bully and victim, felt pleased that their relationship had improved.
"By the way, every time we talk, everyone is releasing white breath. What's with that? Let's head back to the Royal Capital residence for now."
Everyone nodded at Sara's suggestion, and they trudged back the way they came to the Royal Capital residence.
Once the movement was complete, Sara closed the open space.
Just as everyone sighed in relief at the warm air in the office, Edward spoke up.
"You make it look so easy when you do it."
"In fact, the difficulty of magic is not that high. However, it requires a lot of magical power, so only a limited number of people can activate it. I've heard that even Rihito cannot perform this scale of movement magic. That's why creating a magic tool for movement is very challenging."
"Huh? Magic tool?"
Sara grinned and dropped a bombshell in response to Edward's casual remark.
"Yes, it's a magic tool. Originally, it seems to have been Rihito's idea, but Alicia is developing a more practical version of a magic tool for movement. They've already succeeded in making the prototype work, so I think it will be completed in the not-too-distant future."
"What!?"
Marquis Grandchester said that and then sat heavily down on the sofa, unable to continue.
"I apologize. I didn't mean to surprise Grandfather. However, Rihito and Alicia worked hard to cover for my mistake."
"So, Sara has done something again, hasn't she?"
Rebecca asked Sara with a smile.
But Rebecca's eyes weren't smiling at all.
It almost seemed like veins were bulging at her temples.
"M-Mother... are you angry?"
"No, I'm not angry at all."
"You clearly look scary!"
Though they were supposed to have moved to the warm office of the Royal Capital residence, a chill ran down Sara's spine.
"So, what did you do?"
"Actually, Rihito received a letter co-signed by the Royal Capital Alchemy Guild, Pharmacist Guild, and Commerce Guild. Rihito replied on the spot that he would respond to the summons and sent it with a messenger."
"...Is my interpretation correct that Mr. Paracelsus arrived in the Royal Capital even before the letter he signed in person?"
"Mother, you are correct!"
Sara desperately replied with a smile, but Rebecca's mask-like expression didn't change at all.
Edward muttered quietly from behind.
"Anyone could tell that."
"Ahaha... it seems the Commerce Guild's 'urgent' wax seal was used."
"That means it arrived before that thing, which is reputed to be faster than the royal palace's swift horse, Mr. Paracelsus should exercise some restraint..."
"As a pharmacist, he likely can't ignore it if he hears a young girl is suffering from a high fever."
"It's because you consult Mr. Paracelsus without thinking about the consequences."
The surrounding adults, hearing Sara's dry laugh, started to clutch their heads or rub their brows in unison.
"I have no excuse. So now, even though the palace and guild are in a flurry, it'll soon be discovered that they have a special means of transportation."
"No wonder."
Even Robert, who generally rarely intervenes in Sara's actions, spoke to her this time in a stern tone.
"Even though we're both reincarnators, Sara is the Guildmaster of the Sophia Merchant Guild. We must not forget that there are business interests with Mr. Paracelsus."
"Yes, Father."
"Of course, Mr. Paracelsus is the kind of person who would likely rush to the palace even without any vested interests. That's why Sara must protect them. I believe that's the duty of someone in a position of power."
"You are right. It is all my responsibility."
