Volume 6 Chapter 9 Look. Everyone Can Do It Properly

 Everyone is capable, after all.

With Lucius joining them, they flew to the ruins via Lucius's teleportation.

As expected from someone who has lived for so long, teleporting this many people was a piece of cake for Lucius.

After the usual light and sensation of weightlessness, before Randy appeared not in the schoolyard, but before that large door and big room.

The subtly glowing door and murals looked unchanged from that day, along with empty coffins lined up at regular intervals.

Seeing everyone anxiously looking around, Randy clapped his hands loudly.

"What should we do? For now, should we split up and investigate a bit?"

 Everyone nodded at Randy's suggestion.

With such a large group, spreading out instead of sticking together might lead to new discoveries.

Thus, they scattered to investigate their desired spots: the door, the murals, the ruins above, and the empty coffins lined on the floor.

"It really is glowing a bit."

In front of the door, Randy crossed his arms, making a difficult face.

Standing similarly before the door were Ellie and Lucius.

"It's probably... that shining orb is the trigger."

"Ah, that... the Crown Prince's golden orb?"

Randy nodded in understanding, but both Lucius and Ellie on either side made sour faces.

"So, what you're saying is, even if we solve the mystery, we still can't enter without that?"

 Randy's question was quite valid.

Catherine had mentioned that this door leads to different dungeons upon placing each respective orb.

And when both orbs are inserted, it supposedly leads to a mysterious place called [Eclipse Altar].

"Indeed, what you say has some merit. However..."

Touching the door, Ellie glanced back at the headmaster.

"*Elf boy*, What do you think?"

Lucius, asked for his opinion by Ellie, also touched the door and said, "Let's see."

"It's terribly... complex magic. No, is it intertwined?"

Murmuring, Lucius, was met with Ellie's nod, who replied, "Probably."

At this point, it was clear that it wouldn't be Randy's turn.

Leaving the magic-related problems to the two, Randy stepped away from them.

The complicated discussion that echoed in his back was far too difficult for him.

Randy headed to where Annabelle and Cory were investigating an empty coffin.

"Do you think you can figure something out?"

 "Not really..."

Cory shook his head, but the nation's researchers had yet to understand it.

Even if they were brilliant, this was not something students could grasp easily.

 Still, Annabelle,

"Well, since there's no evidence of burial, it might be some kind of curse or ritual."

She sat up, mumbling hypotheses, proving both of them were indeed exceptional.

"Then I'll leave that to you."

There was no role for Randy here either.

Some kind of ritual; in aspects Annabelle could imagine, Randy's knowledge was entirely useless.

Next, Randy focused on the mural.

Currently, Catherine and Leon were comparing the actual mural with the decoded cipher.

 "How does it look?"

"It's nothing much. We saw it in pictures, but our *cipher decoding* was correct. That's all."

Shrugging, Catherine pointed at the mural with the cipher in hand.

A man sat on something resembling a throne.

Behind him, a massive circular figure appeared.

 Swirling black flames.

In the flames floated some letters and a sphere.

A gigantic black moon and a church.

And the contents of the deciphered text were as follows:

'The ancient king is sealed within the axis of lost times.

The coordinates shining as they become colored by black flames shall sink into the abyss.

The worthy shall stand in the shadow of the dark moon and gather the light of heaven.

Then the door of darkness shall be opened.'

Each matched up the deciphered text with the mural, confirming Catherine's assertion that the ciphering was correct.

 However, Randy remembered something here.

There had been a slight change in the mural from when they first arrived and when Edgar obtained the sphere.

"If I remember correctly, a sphere floated in the flames."

Randy took out the photo he had taken just before the rush from his pocket.

He flipped through all of them just to be sure.

 "Found it. This one."

The photo Randy pointed out was from when they first arrived at the ruins.

The flames only danced with letters, and the sphere was nowhere to be found.

"It's true. The mural is definitely different from the beginning."

Next to Catherine, who was comparing Randy's presented photograph with the current mural, Leon raised his voice with an "Ah" while comparing another photograph with the mural.

"Isn't this... the outermost part of the circular mural, glowing slightly?"

The photograph shown to Randy featured a massive circular design.

The enormous circular mural was encircled by 29 small circles along its outer edge.

From the gradual waxing and waning visible, it would undoubtedly represent the lunar phases, yet Leon claimed that part was glowing.

"Indeed. Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit..."

When compared to the photograph, it was just a slight glow... albeit a change, it was still a change.

(Perhaps I didn't notice because it was already faintly glowing...)

Back to Randy, who was glaring at the mural, Luke and Cecilia returned from examining the upper floor.

"So, what do you think? Did you find anything?"

To Randy, who opened his mouth while staring at the mural, Luke shook his head saying, "Nope."

 "There's just a slight oddity."

Cecilia continued, pointing out the position of the window established in the ruins.

"Normally, if you're creating a goddess statue like that, you'd expect the light from the window to hit the statue, right...?"

 "Huh? It didn't?"
