Volume 5 Chapter 64, Part 2 When You're Bored, Strange Topics Get Exciting
"Don't worry, Miss Catherine. It's a pseudo-dragon breath launch device we can blow away together when you and Church recover."
Catherine grabbed at Randy, saying, "Of course I'm worried!"
"It's a parade of worrying words, isn't it? This can't be true?"
Catherine shook Randy's head vigorously....
"Well, let's see..."
...and again, a bad laugh echoed.
Had Liz been here, she would have stopped things from escalating, but Ellie only fanned the flames.
"You saw it too, didn't you? That ominous aura. That is Liz's— hey, wait, hold on a moment."
It seemed that Liz had finally intervened to put an end to Randy and Ellie's antics.
Ellie, despite being preoccupied with managing a single body, continued her mischief—meanwhile, Catherine was utterly horrified.
"Saintly Lady, wouldn't it be better to win Lady Elizabeth's favor?"
Catherine instinctively reacted to Leon's voice from behind.
"Elizabeth is... so scary──!"
She swallowed the words she was about to weave.
"If I try to *curry favor*, I'm going to get blasted. She said something like 'I'll punch you,' right? She'll definitely blast me right here!"
Catherine turned to Leon with a fierce look.
"You're supposed to be on my side! Why are you putting me down?"
Leon stuck his tongue out, saying, "I just found it a bit funny," as Catherine grabbed at him.
Finally, Liz, wearing an exasperated face, smiled at Catherine, saying, "It's a joke," and explained the events of Winter vacation, and the situation finally started to settle down....
"Suspicious."
Completely filled with doubt, Catherine quickly hid behind Leon.
That much was due to the evil aura of that purple-black color.
"No, no. Really, I just made it out of curiosity."
"Saying you just made something that dangerous out of curiosity? You must be out of your mind."
Catherine looked exasperated but suddenly turned to Randy, showing a meaningful smile as if she thought of something.
"This one's definitely going to be henpecked."
She looked smug, clearly pleased with herself.
"Shut up," Randy muttered, scowling.
While the 5 of them were having fun, the investigation progressed... The investigators from the mountain side gathered one by one in the same place.
It was a perfectly opened empty space along the way to the mountain path.
That said, the faces of the gathered people were grim.
A few were investigating again a little distance away, but... they just tilted their heads and came back.
"Did you find anything?"
One woman nodded at Airen, who tilted his head.
"There's a water vein flowing right around here..."
However, the woman investigator, who was downcast, continued that they couldn't detect the water flow a little further ahead.
"I think it probably flows deeper."
It seems that further depth investigation was impossible with the investigators' magical power.
"By the way, how deep is it now?"
"Um... about 12 hundred, I guess?"
Hearing the woman's words, Ellie grinned and said, "Twelve hundred, huh? Got it, I'll take over."
"So, I just need to channel magical power here, right?"
"Y-yes."
Ignoring the hesitant nod from the woman, Ellie slowly channeled magical power... Waves began to move in the mirror placed in the center, starting to form various shapes.
"...I have no idea."
"If you understood, we wouldn't need an expert."
In front of Catherine, who looked exasperated, the investigators stared seriously at the incomprehensible waves.
"How deep is it?"
In response to Ellie's question, the woman replied while looking at the mirror, "Um, it's about 12 hundred deep now."
"Then I'll channel a bit more magical power..."
As Ellie channeled more magical power, the wave patterns reflected in the mirror began to move slowly like flowing water.
"Found it. It's a groundwater vein. It's about 16 hundred now."
At the words of the investigator who looked up, Ellie nodded, saying, "That's a good depth."
From Randy and the others' perspective, it seemed they could uncover a hot spring, but the investigators were focused on something else.
"Is this porous layer a remnant of an ancient eruption or something?"
"With this much groundwater, isn't there a possibility of weathering?"
"No, it might be the trace of a river from tens of thousands of years ago."
The experts who glimpsed depths they had never seen before all wore nerdy expressions, just for now.
As proof, when Randy suggested that they dig a hot spring, Ellie was eager to offer to join the survey.
"I need your magical power."
"Please."
Ellie, being urged intensely, grimaced and hid behind Randy saying, "Oh come on, stop it."
"If all you need is magical power, you could take any little Saint girl along."
Ellie pointed at Catherine, who jumped in surprise, "Me?!"
"You have a decent amount of magical power too. At least more than those folks over there."
With that remark, the surveyors' target shifted to Catherine.
The only difference between Catherine and Ellie is...
"Saintly Lady."
"Please."
"It's a rare opportunity."
...as they pleaded, she nodded with a face that wasn't entirely displeased, "I guess I have no choice."
"That person is so easy to persuade."
"I'm a little worried."
Liz, who returned to her body, looked exasperated.
"Well, I'll go with her."
Leon sighed, but he looked pleased watching Catherine being relied upon.
"Alright then, you take care of that. We'll be digging the hot spring."
Leon replied "Sure" as Randy raised his hand and joined Catherine and the others.
With Airen at the front, Catherine, already acting like a leader, shouted, "You guys, let's go!" but since she looked like she was having fun, it's probably fine.
"Well then, let's shape it up some before they return."
"Yes, let's work hard together."
Randy nodded vigorously at Liz, who clenched her fists.
When the sun was directly overhead, the 3 began making the hot spring.
