Volume 5 Chapter 55 Shouldn't Be Seen Just Yet...
The training ended unexpectedly, but Randy remained alone in the training ground.
The reason is simple.
He is fixing the floor and walls that he and Rolf broke using Craft.
He wasn't asked to do this, but in a way, it's part of his nature.
The training area should be clean... probably something ingrained in his soul from a past life.
"Thinking about it, I've become quite handy."
Since he first acquired Craft, woodworking like this has become second nature.
His magical power is still average, but the Craft, honed through various experiences, has become quite familiar to Randy.
The floor he smashed with a step.
The floor Randy was slammed onto.
The wall Rolf crashed into.
As he finished repairing those, Randy furrowed his brow and turned around.
"Hey, hey. Don't tell me you caught a cold from getting chilled?"
In front of him was Ellie, all bundled up in cold weather gear.
"In this getup, there's no way I could catch a chill."
With a sigh, Ellie muttered about Liz's weakness to the cold, saying, "Honestly, that Liz..."
"Staying behind alone, you must have taken quite a beating, huh?"
Randy snorted, replying, "No way that's true."
It's true he was left alone to clean up, but until just a moment ago, there were Knights helping.
He didn't hear them offer to help, but even if they were there, there wasn't much they could do, and more than that, he didn't want them to see too much of his Craft.
As Randy explained this, Ellie approached and peered at his face, asking, "Is that true? You look like you've been hit."
"It's just a scratch. A bit of spit will heal it."
Indeed, while his face and body bore wounds from being hit and kicked, to Randy, they were not serious injuries.
But Ellie raised her hand towards Randy,
"Don't move."
She cast healing Holy Magic.
A faintly glowing light enveloped Randy for a moment, and soon after, healed Randy appeared.
"Hmm. You've become beautiful."
Ellie laughed, squeezing Randy's cheeks, but it was so natural and unexpected that Randy blushed and looked away, saying, "Th-thank you."
Seeing Randy's embarrassed attitude, Ellie finally realized how embarrassing it was.
"Y-you fool! Why are you blushing!"
Ellie hurriedly took a step back, quickly explaining that what she just did was a proper act to check the results of the treatment.
Randy couldn't help but laugh at Ellie's typical behavior.
After all, the forbidden existence is now a proper girl.
Randy smiled as he opened his mouth to Ellie, who was still mumbling, "That's not it."
"What about you? You took a bath, right?"
"...You guys are the ones shaking the bath."
Randy shrugged at the accusatory glare, and Ellie sighed, saying, "The Saint's little girl was noisy too."
Certainly, with that vibration, Catherine would likely make a fuss, and Randy couldn't help but smile.
After talking about how great the bath was, Ellie sighed and glanced up at the castle surrounding the training ground.
"So? The reason for your deep thoughts is probably whether the muscle-bound guy is the enemy, right?"
Ellie grinned, and Randy widened his eyes.
"It's easy to tell when you're deep in thought."
Ellie laughed heartily, and Randy turned his gaze away to hide his embarrassment, saying, "Shut up."
"Shall I hear your assessment?"
"I wonder. He doesn't seem like the kind of person who could do that..."
"The possibility isn't 0, is it?"
Ellie frowned, and Randy shook his head, saying, "I don't know."
In fact, what he felt when he exchanged fists with Rolf was that even if there was some scheme, he couldn't imagine Rolf asking for anyone's help.
That guy is a kind of madman.
If he were to cause something, Rolf would be the type to charge in first.
So it's hard to believe that Rolf and the Waldner family are connected to some mysterious organization.
"But..."
"What is it? You're not being clear."
Ellie frowned again, and Randy spoke about what had been bothering him.
That was the fact that only Rolf and Airen from the Waldner family were at the training ground.
"According to what I've heard, the Waldner family has one son and 3 daughters. The youngest is that lady Erienne, and if the eldest is married... what happened to the eldest son?"
Ellie sighed, "Is that all?" at Randy, who exhaled white breath.
"If the eldest daughter is married, then the eldest son must be out on a campaign."
Ellie's point makes sense, but in that case, they should have mentioned it during the first greeting.
Cedric, who is supposed to play a role in the next generation of noble lords, is here after all.
Considering the relationship between Rolf and Lucian, he can't believe they would send the eldest son out on a campaign at this time.
"Now that you mention it, that's true..."
"Moreover, it seems that their mother was sleeping just earlier."
"In other words──"
"Sick or injured..."
Randy's sigh became even whiter.
Even though it's the end of February, the north is still quite cold.
"In my view, both the eldest son and the madam have some kind of illness. And the silence they've maintained seems connected to the recent rumors."
After a huge sigh, Randy turned around and asked, "Isn't that right?" to find Cedric standing there, having appeared out of nowhere.
"That's right. I'm thinking something similar too, Randy."
Cedric nodded, also concerned that he had not been introduced to Waldner's eldest son, and that this had not been mentioned.
"It's not good to speak based on mere speculation."
"Indeed, that's true."
Randy nodded at Cedric's remark.
Without knowing the other party's intentions, proceeding based on speculation could lead to painful backlash.
"That said, staying reactive like this is..."
"That's why we have dinner."
With a smile, Cedric made Randy finally realize Rolf's true intentions.
An invitation to a place with only family means a willingness to speak openly there.
"The journey to that point will be your match with Lord Walker, right?"
Cedric continued, indicating that Rolf, who seems simple, is actually a battle-hardened noble.
While he is always bold and straightforward, he knows well how it appears to others and how to maneuver accordingly.
A simple man hosts a guest he likes for a meal as a test of skill.
This scene, quite 'typical', can be called a secret meeting arranged by Rolf.
"Well, it's true we measured our abilities."
Cedric, letting out a white sigh, shifted his gaze to Randy, asking, "Can we trust him?"
"I see."
Nodding, Randy imagined what was on Rolf's mind.
If there's a problem, he can't involve the sons of old friends.
But if the opponent is a trustworthy level user....
It seems that, despite his appearance, he thinks more than expected.
"However, it seems he prefers brute strength, which is easy for him."
Cedric shrugged and told about Lucian, who drank with Rolf.
It seems that in front of Lucian's cunning, Rolf can also stick to his most comfortable muscle-headed style.
Lucian, in turn, finds Rolf's straightforwardness easy.
(Wow. Surprisingly, they fit well together.)
Their personalities are opposites, but they have a strange relationship where they recognize each other.
"So, let's head to dinner soon."
Cedric, returning to the castle, and Randy nodded, "Understood," then glanced back at Ellie.
"So, it seems we'll learn a lot during dinner."
"Well, that's fine. Above all, what I'm most worried about now is my own body."
Ellie shrugged, and Randy grinned, asking, "Shall we check in soon?"
It's highly likely that knights and researchers have already pulled back from the ruins due to that rumor.
"True. I just hope that ruin really holds clues to the body..."
"Well, we'll find out if we go."
Accompanied by a sighing Ellie, Randy decided to return to the castle.
In the training ground, where the day had faded, cold snow began to fall.
