Volume 5 Chapter 45, Part 2 An Important Character That No One Knows, That is Already the Malice of the Creator God
Under the watchful eyes of his guards, the former prince tries his best to get along with Randy.
It definitely smells like trouble.
And judging by Julius's expression, it seems he's even aware that Randy has noticed the surveillance.
In fact...
"Sorry about this. Their loyalty's just too strong. I'm in a tough spot myself."
Julius shrugs, his tone breaking slightly, and a sense of desperation can be seen deep in his eyes.
That said, Randy has no obligation to respond to it.
Whatever Julius is hiding, Randy couldn't care less.
He's completely uninterested.
Seeing that in Randy's eyes, Julius lets out a self-deprecating laugh and speaks up.
"Even though I hated the grand treatment and abandoned my status..."
Julius glances at the guards and offers them words of comfort, "You all must have it tough too."
"No. This is our job, after all."
The 4 guards try their best to remain composed, but Randy just wants to say, "Do whatever you want."
"Don't take it the wrong way, Lord Randy."
"I'm not bothered."
He's completely uninterested.
Despite Randy's tone and attitude making that clear, Julius doesn't seem ready to let him leave the table.
"Still, rumors can't be trusted."
Julius smiles and leans forward again.
"You're even more than the rumors that reached me. Your skills, and the mind that sparked all those ventures."
"You're overestimating me. I didn't do it all alone."
As Randy shakes his head, Julius smiles and says, "Don't be so modest."
"I'm truly convinced now──the rumors that you can go toe-to-toe with [Silver Peak] are real."
"Well, we've been *open with each other*."
Randy leans forward too, showing a sly grin.
To be honest, he has no obligation to respond, nor any interest.
But he does appreciate Julius's effort to make the best of this strict surveillance.
Instead of giving up because the situation is bad, he's thinking about what he can do within it.
Randy doesn't dislike that type of person.
In fact, that's how they've lived and continue to live.
(But getting people into trouble is... Ah, I see.)
For a short while, Julius didn't seem like the type to drag others into his problems.
Yet, he acted recklessly, even involving Randy.
And though he claimed to have abandoned it, the first name he gave was his full name from his time in the Imperial family.
In other words, Randy was already involved.
And not just involved──it was something related to the Imperial family.
Julius was also in opposition to the person who had targeted Randy.
(So that's why he's so cautious.)
Everything clicked for Randy, and he looked at Julius again.
I see.
The fearless young lion──it's no wonder the mastermind behind this was wary of him.
As Randy, now understanding everything, showed a look of exasperation, Julius seemed to notice and smiled at him.
As a man, Randy couldn't just ignore this.
This time, Randy truly faced Julius for what he was.
"Just like the rumors, huh?"
Randy snorted, and Julius smiled back, "More than the rumors."
"Still, I don't wanna see you again──"
Randy stood up, walking past the guards, and glanced back at Julius,
"But we'll probably meet again anyway. I'll at least offer you some tea. We're acquaintances, after all."
Randy snorted again, waving his hand lazily as he left the room, "See ya──"
Julius, left alone in the room, stared at the door Randy had disappeared through for a while.
"Acquaintances... huh."
As Julius muttered to himself, one of the guards spoke up.
"Your Highness Julius. I'll report today's events to His Highness Leonius."
Julius shook his head at that.
"Do as you like. But in return, I'll do as I please too."
The unexpected statement made all 4 guards gasp in surprise.
"W-what are you saying, Your Highness? Acting on your own would go against His Highness Leonius's──"
"His Highness Leonius again, huh? Why should I, who left the Imperial family to join the Church, follow the wishes of my older brother? And not even Crown Prince Ragnar, but the second prince, Leonius?"
Julius's intense aura left the 4 guards speechless, muttering, "That's..."
"That's why I'll do as I please."
Julius didn't back down an inch, and the guards exchanged troubled glances.
"For now, we need to report──"
With his arms crossed, Julius stayed behind as 3 of the guards rushed out of the room, leaving one behind.
"Randolph Victor... First, I must apologize. For flaunting a status I thought I'd abandoned and stopping him."
As Julius muttered this, his eyes reflected the mischievous smile Randy had shown earlier.
Julius El Varkraith, a person who appears as a helper character in the otome game *Useyaro*.
A man who, disliking the struggle for succession, abandoned his position at a young age and sought refuge in the Church.
Yet even within the Church, he faced fierce power struggles and corruption, lamenting his own powerlessness.
It was then that Catherine's purge and cleansing of the Church's upper ranks deeply moved him, and Julius, having completely abandoned his status, came to the kingdom to rebuild the Church.
In terms of role, he's a helper character.
He appears in mini-games related to the Church's reconstruction.
But the untold story behind the game is different.
Even if he abandoned his status, the kingdom's government wouldn't simply accept it at face value.
Julius's timing was both unfortunate and, in a way, fortunate.
The kingdom was in chaos following the Marquis family's rebellion and the purge of the Church's forces, but Julius's arrival in the capital marked a turning point.
The Church, which should have been weakened, steadily grew stronger, and behind it was the former imperial prince.
There was no more blatant invasion, and the kingdom's government redirected the territorial nobles' grievances toward Julius, an easy enemy.
Julius's activities were seen as part of the imperial government's schemes.
Of course, Julius had no such ulterior motives.
He had come simply to repay the protagonist who had shown him the way.
As a helper in the mini-games.
But with the weakened kingdom being targeted by the empire, the kingdom's nobles united.
During the Braubelg Rebellion, the nobles who had been casting suspicion on the capital eventually found themselves united in the face of the greater enemy, the Empire.
And from there, their focus would shift toward Eleonora.
In other words, Julius is a key political figure who was never mentioned in the game.
To maintain the integrity of the kingdom, even though there was a rebellion by the great nobles, it did not split up.
The importance of a man named Julius that no one knows.
In the otome game "Useyaro", Julius is a helper character in a mini-game that has nothing to do with the main game, and plays a role in the political behind-the-scenes that is never mentioned.
But the mini-game helper was interested in Randy, not Catherine.
While maintaining a delicate relationship with his homeland.
No one knows how this result will affect the game.
