Volume 1 Chapter 64 Mean Villainess, Attending the Graduation Ceremony
The spacious hall resonated with lively music, and dresses swayed gently like beautifully blooming flowers.
In the midst of it all, I fluttered about, changing partners one after another.
Honestly, I hadn't expected to dance for such a long time, and I was starting to feel a bit dizzy.
Today was our graduation ceremony.
However, unlike Japanese graduation ceremonies, there was no handing out of diplomas; it was simply a dazzling dance party, so I didn't really feel much like it was graduation.
Despite the dance party, as usual, I had neither a fiancé nor a lover, so I entered with the escort of my Elder Brother and danced with him.
However, just as I finished one song and was about to grab a snack that the academy had prepared, a boy approached me.
"May I have this dance?"
he said.
With no reason to refuse, I took the boy's hand.
I didn't know his name because we weren't in the same class, but he had a somewhat excited expression, so I didn't feel bad about it.
"Thank you for the wonderful memory."
"No, thank you for inviting me."
A wonderful memory?
I thought that but merely smiled bright.
Then, probably nearby was Leve, and I was about to turn and ask him, "What was that all about?" when I found another boy standing there.
"May I have this dance as well?"
"Ah, sure."
I wondered how many times I had repeated this exchange.
At first, I danced without really understanding, but it seemed that everyone was thinking about the future.
My father was continuously refusing marriage proposals, but still, the noblemen who wanted to welcome a daughter of the Alfano family as a bride were inviting me to dance.
"May I have this dance!"
"Sure, sure."
"I'm a commoner, so I can only dance to the level I learned at school..."
"Okay? That's fine, just don't step on my feet."
I said playfully, and he nodded vigorously in front of me.
Not just the nobles considering the future, but even the commoners' children are calling out.
Perhaps they are aiming for a fortune through marriage...
But he doesn't seem to have that kind of face.
As I pondered, my gaze flickered to the wall, where my Elder Brother's displeased expression caught my eye.
He definitely disapproves of me dancing with a boy.
He's such an obvious guy, my Elder Brother.
Thinking it would be troublesome if our eyes met, I quickly glanced away from him.
Just then, it appeared that Rudger and my mother were conversing.
I couldn't tell what they were talking about, but I could see my mother dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief and Rudger looking startled.
I wonder if my mother is crying.
...What could it be?
Is it because Rudger is the target character?
"Thank you very much!"
The song had ended before I knew it.
"Thank you as well."
"This will be a lifelong brag!"
"Huh, brag?"
What does bragging mean?
Just as I was about to ask, he dashed away at astonishing speed, smiling happily.
What on earth...
"Elena."
"Who is it now? Oh, Sven."
When I turned around, there stood the prince.
When we first met, he was just a child, but now he has grown into a strikingly handsome prince.
He seems to have grown quite a bit, towering over me by a head, or maybe even more.
He might be about the same height as Rolus, or perhaps even taller.
And since Prince Sven is younger than Rolus, he is probably still in his growth phase.
"Congratulations on your graduation, Elena."
"Thank you."
"Once you graduate, we might not see each other much anymore."
"Indeed."
I think it won't just be less; it will be almost not at all.
"If Elena isn't too tired, would you dance a song with me?"
"I'd be delighted."
Though I've been dancing for a while, and to be honest, I'm tired, I simply couldn't turn down the invitation from Prince Sven, who has grown quite fond of me.
"Thanks to Elena, my school life has become very enjoyable. I've made many friends."
"That's great to hear."
Smiling brightly, Prince Sven looked a bit shy.
He had grown quite large but still retained some charming qualities.
I felt relieved.
"...I've made many friends, but my first friend is Elena."
"Yes."
"Will you continue to be my friend from now on?"
"Of course."
Prince Sven's delighted expression when I answered was incredibly cute.
If there were a camera here, it would definitely be taking rapid shots.
"Thank you, Elena."
"Thank you too, Sven."
We exchanged a firm handshake.
It felt lonely to think that we probably wouldn't meet again unless something major happened, but we would always be friends.
Surely.
After parting with the prince, I looked around and saw that the crowd had finally thinned.
It had been a long battle... I thought as I wandered over to the snacks.
I was hungry since I had been moving continuously.
"You look tired, Elena."
Just as I was about to finally get some food, I turned around to see Rudger munching on a yakisoba bun.
Even though it was graduation day, Rudger was just the same as usual.
"I'm really tired. Besides Prince Sven, what was up with the others?"
"It's for making memories. Who knows when you'll get the chance to talk to a high and mighty flower like her again?"
"Huh? A high and mighty flower? Me?"
"Yes."
"Oh, I'm so happy! Say that again!"
"You think I'm joking? Don't you realize it?"
Wait, was that not just flattery?
