Volume 1 Chapter 62 Mother, The One Who Was Trying To Resist Fate

Looking back, it was an unlucky life.

From the moment I was born, I nearly died, almost drowning due to my father's carelessness when I was just a baby, and falling down the stairs because of my mother's inattention.

I caught a cold every birthday and missed most school events due to sickness.

Yet, during events like the marathon that I had no desire to participate in, I was perfectly fine.

I have never been on a school trip.

As a child, I had mumps; as a middle schooler, I caught chickenpox; and in high school, I was bedridden with the flu.

While walking alongside my friends, I would inevitably step in dog poop, and bird droppings would fall on me.

Even while just walking normally, a car would run a red light and crash into me.

Whenever I wanted to buy something and stood in line, it would always sell out right in front of me.

Ultimately, I contracted a rare disease that affects one in hundreds of thousands and died the day before my high school graduation.

That was a memory of my previous life.

Just remembering it brings me to the brink of tears.

I realized I had been reincarnated shortly after entering the academy.

I collapsed from using too much magic and fell into a coma, during which I had a dream.

In the dream, I saw myself from before I contracted the rare disease.

And there was my past self reading a large book.

Peering into that book revealed beautiful illustrations.

Looking at character illustrations, names, birth dates, and other data, I felt a wave of nostalgia almost crushing my heart.

This was the strategy guide for the game I dedicated myself to the most in my life.

I remember buying 3 copies: one for viewing, one for display, and one for preservation.

I wanted the limited edition that came with merchandise, but despite making a reservation, I couldn't buy it due to the nonsensical reason, "We ran out of stock."

 It's sad.

 "Ah..."

Suddenly, I notice something off about a certain page.

 Familiar names are lined up.

 "Oscar Alfano..."

It's the name of a classmate from my current academy.

'These are the names of the protagonist's rival character's parents.'

 My past self smiles.

 "Marisa..., Marisa Alfano...?"

 Marisa is currently my name.

Could it be that if I marry Sir Oscar, a rival character will be born?

 I felt a bad premonition.

In addition, the names of Leve's parents, who are also targets for romance, and Rudger's mother's name all match those of my current classmates.

That's when I realized I had been reincarnated into this game's world.

Besides, not just the names, but even the hair color and eye color are exactly the same.

'Poor rival character Ellie. She's cute, though.'

I murmured that in my past life.

Yes, Elena appears as the protagonist's rival, getting in the way of romance in every possible way.

The thrill of overcoming her obstacles and winning over the handsome guy was quite something, making it more about outsmarting Elena than the romance itself.

 It felt that way.

 'You must protect Ellie's heart.'

 "Huh?"

'It's okay, you're the luckiest person in the world right now.'

When I was told that in my past life, I woke up from a coma.

I was told I had to protect Elena's heart, but it didn't register.

Besides, if I didn't marry Sir Oscar, wouldn't Elena not be born?

Fortunately, by the time I noticed that, I hadn't even spoken to him.

However, fate is cruel, and I had unwittingly joined Sir Oscar's faction.

Back then, there were 2 major factions in my class.

The Duke family's legitimate son faction and Sir Oscar's faction.

The legitimate son of the Duke was decent in both family background and looks, and was very popular.

 But he was incredibly flirty.

In comparison, Sir Oscar was from a fairly good family and was an incredibly handsome super gentleman.

I was honestly curious about what kind of person would become the parent of that rival character and quietly approached.

Then, when I was asked by a friend who I preferred, I honestly answered Sir Oscar, and I was counted as part of Sir Oscar's faction.

 Without my consent.

However, if I'm not part of either faction, I'll stand out, and I thought that if I acted like I belonged somewhere, he would choose someone else to marry.

Yet, I must repeat, fate can be cruel.

Exhausted by the girls approaching him, Sir Oscar staggered and sat next to me, saying this.

"What are you after from me?"

I had always thought, "This guy has an amazing face," and instinctively, I answered cheerfully.

 "Your face!"

But really, I never expected that such a simple remark would lead to marriage.

From that "Your face!" statement, before I knew it, my marriage to Sir Oscar was decided.

Thus, I would be hailed as the luckiest bride in the academy.

 Isn't there someone better?

 Shouldn't I just back out?

 My words were all dismissed.

As I considered a future without Elena, I simultaneously thought of a future without Leve or Rudger, who would hurt her.
