Volume 1 Chapter 30 Reunion with an S, Part Rank Old Friend and Recruitment
One day.
I received a report from a wyvern that humans were being attacked by monsters at the edge of the beastman country.
I quickly rushed to the scene on my earth dragon.
As we got closer, the air felt heavy with danger. In the middle of the chaos stood a fierce creature — a Thunder Ligerwolf.
An A-rank wolf monster that shoots lightning.
There were about 30 of them, surrounding the humans.
From the looks of their weapons, they were probably adventurers.
But it seemed like the battle had been going on for a while, and they looked quite exhausted.
"Grrr...!"
One of the Lightning Wolves lunged at an adventurer with a red ponytail.
"[Paralyze]"
When the skill activated, the Thunder Ligerwolf froze in place and couldn't move.
"Y-you paralyzed an A-rank monster...! Who are you?"
The red-haired beauty widened her eyes in surprise.
"Stay back, I'll finish this quickly."
The Lightning Wolves growled and surrounded me.
"Hey, be careful! You can't take on this many alone..."
One of the adventurers warned me, concerned for my safety.
But the ponytailed beauty stopped him.
"Don't worry. Leave it to [Zeke]."
"But... leader..."
"If it's the Zeke I know, he can handle this easily."
The Lightning Wolves shot lightning from their mouths.
I dodged their attacks and flew into the air.
"He dodged the Lightning Wolves' fast lightning attack!? That's amazing!"
I spotted the Lightning Wolves in the air and activated my skill.
"[Paralyze]"
Bam...!
All the Lightning Wolves collapsed on the spot.
"T-to paralyze 30 A-rank monsters in one shot...!"
"See? Pretty amazing, right? Zeke has always been incredible!"
I landed on the ground and put the Lightning Wolves to sleep with [Sleep].
"Hey, Zeke! It's been a while!"
The red-haired beauty patted my shoulder excitedly.
"Huh? Who are you?"
The beauty looked puzzled for a moment but then nodded as if she understood.
"It's me, it's me. [Lisbette]"
"Lisbette... what? No way, is that really you!?"
Lis shook her head in disbelief.
"To forget the face of your best friend is just terrible!"
She is an old friend from when I was in the royal capital.
"But you... your hair was short back then, and now you look too beautiful for me to recognize."
"Huh...!?"
Poof...!
Lis's face turned bright red.
"Don't say weird things like that~♡ You're silly~♡ Come on~♡"
Lis twisted her body shyly.
"Uh, hey, is this person the talent you were talking about, leader?"
Lis nodded at a man who seemed to be her fellow adventurer.
"Yeah. If they're this strong, no complaints here."
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
Lis looked at me with a serious face.
"Zeke, I heard. You were fired from being the court veterinarian. That's why I'm here to recruit you."
"Recruit?"
With a very serious expression, my former best friend said.
"To put it bluntly, Zeke. I want you. Want to join a party of adventurers together?"
"Adventurer... Now that I think of it, Lis, you're an adventurer right now, right?"
"I've been after you ever since you were a royal beast veterinarian. You should make the most of your strength as an adventurer."
Lis held out her right hand and then continued,
"Why don't you join our S-rank party, [Dragon of Dusk]?"
"Sorry, I can't do that"
"What!? Why!?"
"Well, I'm already a beast veterinarian in Beastman country..."
