Volume 2 Chapter 17 Skill Scroll

Volume 2 Chapter 17 Skill Scroll

"Uh...so we got a magic stone, a sword, and...uh, what is this thing?"

I crouched down and grabbed the loot the Goblin Knight dropped. I told Rie-tan, "First time seeing a drop from an Upper Floors' Floor Boss..."—but that was a total lie. I'd seen this stuff plenty during my Omega days.

Still, there was this one scroll I'd never seen before, and my Yuki Takeru: First-Time Dungeon Explorer act slipped.

"Oh, jackpot! That's the Goblin Knight's 'Body-Hardened' skill scroll!"

 "Skill scroll?"

"Uh, yeah? Wait—don't you already have a 'Dual Wielding' skill from one of these?"

 Oh crap.

Right, acquiring skills nowadays means channeling magic into a scroll. Rookie mistake.

"A-ah! My bad! I, uh... totally spaced out—haha..." Nailed it? Probably not.

 Rie-tan gave me a look.

"Just a brain fart? Hehe, well, it happens."

Wait... really? That worked? Thank you, dumb luck!

"Haa... you're always either clueless, oblivious, or just straight-up thick-headed," Sagawa muttered.

 "Huh? Sagawa?"

 "Nothing."

What's with this guy's attitude? Seriously, should I hit him with another Trans Potion for fun?

 ──────────────────

 ......Amamiya Rie

(Huh... He thinks he played it cool, but it's painfully obvious. Like, glaringly obvious. It's only a matter of time before someone on Omega-channel spills everything... Or worse—if he starts streaming with 'Hero Brigade,' this is going to blow up fast. Ugh, my head hurts.)

 ......Sagawa Suguru

(Sigh... This guy's gonna slip up any minute. Seriously—how does someone with skills not know how skill scrolls work? And that fight earlier—he suddenly went full muscle-mode outta nowhere! He thinks we didn't notice? C'mon, anyone could see his stats went Omega-level. I mean, when I was pinned down, I couldn't even twitch! What is that physical ability!?)

"By the way, Rie-tan... How much do these magic stones and items usually sell for?"

 "Huh? Wait—you've never sold anything?"

"Uh... yeah. Stuff I got from the training dungeon's just been collecting dust at home."

"That's... not normal. Most people sell them immediately to buy better gear..."

"Huh? Uh—well! I figured they wouldn't sell for much, so I thought I'd just cash it all in at once! Y'know, efficiency!"

Oh no oh no oh no—definitely not suspicious at all, right!?

"Ahh, makes sense! You really think things through!"

 "Phew! ... I mean, thanks—ha ha."

"Anyway, for reference: this Goblin Knight's magic stone should fetch about 15,000 yen."

 "WHAA—Fifteen THOUSAND!?"

"Yep. Upper Floors or not, a Floor Boss drop is still valuable."

"S-So... like, Middle or Lower Floor bosses must go for way more, right?"

"Exactly. If you've got the stamina to grind at the 30th floor entrance all day, you could rake in around 100,000 yen."

 "W-Wait—seriously!?"

"...Mhm. Magic stones from Lower Floor monsters fetch about the same as this one."

 "I-I see..."

 Wait, wait, wait! Hold up!

I've already got, like, fifty magic stones from my first stream on the Middle Floors! Plus another fifty-ish from the Lower Floors!

How rich am I right now!?

 "Hey, Rie-tan... you're a D-class Seeker, right?"

 "Yup!"

"So... what floors do you usually hit?"

"Mostly mid-Lower Floors... around floors 40 to 42."

 "Whoa."

If the 30th floor nets 100k a day, she's definitely pulling even more from floor 40. Being a Seeker pays crazy well!

"W-Wait. Forty!?" Sagawa butted in, eyes wide. "You go that deep solo!?"

 "Yeah."

Huh? Why's Rie-tan's face turning red?

 "Rie-tan? You good?"

"A-Ah! It's just... for a girl to dive that deep solo... it's not very, uh... girly, is it...?"

 "No way—"

"That's totally not true!" Sagawa cut me off, flustered.

 "Sagawa!?"

"I-I just mean—Amamiya's...amazing! And it's not un-girly at all! She's strong and girly—it's like, the perfect combo, okay!?"

 "Wh-What are you even saying...!?

 Rie-tan's face went full tomato.

 "Huh!? Wait—I didn't mean it like—uh—!"

...These two are radiating love-comedy energy.

Guys, please. I'm standing right here.

 Also... wait.

Are they really that kind of relationship!?

I thought I was the protagonist here—former hero from another world and everything!

But I'm sitting on zero love-comedy flags... and don't even get me started on harem vibes.

 <hr/>

Takeru, blissfully delusional about his 'main character' status.

It's okay, Takeru. You are the protagonist!

...Just, y'know, your love-comedy arc's taking the scenic route.

Hang in there, our clueless hero—Yuki Takeru!
