Chapter 12 The Visit Of The Designer Mother And Daughter
"Nice to meet you, young lady. I am Seriana, the owner of Senart Boutique. This is my daughter, Manila. I brought her along today for a visit, so please don't mind us too much."
"Thank you very much."
The mother and daughter, with their deep purple hair, bow slightly towards me.
I'm not sure if it's because she's the boutique owner, but they are both beautiful, and their outfits are incredibly stylish.
Their dresses are different from what nobles usually wear, but they clearly stand out with their exceptional design and high quality, setting them apart from ordinary commoners.
There's a perfect balance that doesn't overshadow the presence of nobles while still showcasing their own skills.
I can trust this person's abilities.
"Thank you for taking the time to come here. I am Yumie Granbell, and I would like to place an order for a dress. Please remember me."
She smiles gently and bows with a noble's grace.
Ms. Seriana seems slightly impressed, her eyes widening, while Manila looks completely dazed.
Hehe, how about that? My manners are impressive, right? I've been rigorously taught by Mother every day, and I practice in front of the mirror, researching how to highlight my own cuteness.
Even though she's a girl, she can't help but be captivated by this level of cuteness!.
"You've studied very well, young lady. I heard you're only about ten years old, but this is the most beautiful greeting I've ever seen. I'd love for my daughter to learn from you."
"Oh no, I still have a long way to go. I can't compare to Mother."
In reality, Mother's manners are so elegant that it feels like the word "graceful" is walking around in a dress.
The "cuteness" I'm aiming for is somewhat different from that, but as I grow, there may come a day when I shift towards that direction too, and I take inspiration from her every day.
"Also, Ms. Manila, your greeting was lovely as well. You're around my age, right? I think it's amazing."
What I'm really curious about is this girl.
I'm still a member of the Count Granbell family, and I'm in a fortunate environment where there are many people, besides Mother, who help me learn.
But this girl isn't a noble, and her mother must be busy running a boutique.
She's about my age, and considering she doesn't have the same study environment as me, this is honestly impressive.
"Ah, thank you... I'm honored..."
Mani looks at me with a somewhat dreamy expression.
Heh, if you look at me with such passionate eyes, I might misunderstand and think you have feelings for me, you know?.
Well, since I'm a girl right now, that's probably not the case.
"Now then, let's get started on the design of your dress, Miss."
I set aside my thoughts about Mani and move on to the discussion with Ms. Seriana.
"Do you have any preferences, Miss?"
"Well... I'm not really fond of anything that restricts my movement too much."
As I flip through the catalog, I mutter to myself.
The current trend is clothing like corsets that emphasize body lines and make you look slimmer, but they're really tight and hard to move in.
Since I'm naturally pale, wearing one makes me look even more unhealthy rather than cute.
Plus...
"I'm still not... at a level where I need to emphasize my figure..."
Yeah, it's common for noble women to wear trendy outfits, and kids often dress the same way, but I think the points to highlight are different for adults and children.
What's the point of a ten-year-old competing over waist size or bust size? I mean, if you're really chubby, that's one thing, but I exercise regularly and have a more toned body than girls my age thanks to weight training.
There's no point in tightening it further with a corset.
"There should be dresses that were popular about ten years ago that don't require wearing a corset. Could you design a modern version of that for children?"
The charm I should be showing right now isn't the adult "woman" allure.
It's the delicate and adorable charm of being a "girl" that only children can have.
No need to try to grow up too fast.
Kids should shine in their own way, especially now!.
"And if that's the case, I have an idea!!"
At that moment, Mani spoke up.
"Oh?" I thought as I turned my gaze, and Mani showed me the notebook she was holding carefully.
"It's a dress that my mom used to admire... but it's not in style anymore, so the store doesn't carry it... Based on that, I designed this..."
The moment I saw it, a spark went off in my mind.
This is it! This is the dress that can showcase my YumYum's charm to the fullest!!.
"Manila-san."
"Ah, yes... I guess it's no good, right...?"
"Just the opposite! Let's go with this!! Ms. Seriana, please adjust this design for me!"
"Understood, my lady."
"Eh, eh!? ."
My mom quickly agreed to my request.
Caught between the two of us, Mani looked confused, so I firmly grabbed her hand.
"Manila-san, thank you! You're a genius, so have confidence!"
I might not understand the finer techniques since I'm just an amateur, and there are definitely areas where she still needs improvement.
But for a ten-year-old to design something like this? That alone shows she has an incredibly bright future.
Honestly, I want to support her.
"Eh, um, calling me a genius is a bit too much..."
"If you want, I can be your patron. Education costs money, right? How much do you need?"
"Fweeeh!? ."
Mani seemed overwhelmed by my rapid-fire questions, her eyes spinning in confusion.
Seeing this, Ms. Seriana opened her mouth with a wry smile.
"My lady, while I appreciate the offer, let's save that discussion for later, after the dress is finished. For now, let's talk about the details."
"Oh, you're right. Manila-san, I'm serious about this, so be prepared, okay?"
With a smile that conveyed my determination not to let her go, Mani turned bright red and hid behind Ms. Seriana.
It might be a bit rude, but since I pushed her into this, I have no complaints.
I stopped Ms. Seriana from apologizing and confidently moved into business mode.
"Hehe... I'm really looking forward to the party day now."
"My lady, you have a mischievous look on your face."
At Lisa's comment, I quickly tightened my expression.
Oh no, I have to be careful not to ruin my outward appearance.
